Marnie Watson
killed her abusive husband in self-
defence some time ago and has been put on house
arrest for the remaining time of her sentence.
Happy to get out of prison, Marnie sees this as
a new start, but her dead husband hasn't forgotten
about what she did...

An abusive ghost? Well why not, everything else
has all ready been done. Famke Janssen stars in
this bland ghost story that's right in the middle
of creepy and crappy. Some moments in here are
extremely suspenseful and made me jump high in
my seat while other moments are ridiculously
campy. The tension works well, the scares manage
to scare but the ghost, oh the ghost. Apparently
they can't have spent a great deal of money on
special effects as the ghost looks like something
out of a cheap DTV flick (which this will probably
end up being anyway). It's a shame though because
everything else about the movie makes it feel
expensive and Eric Red impresses behind the camera
(even if it took him 12 years to get back in the
directors chair after the atrocious werewolf
flop Bad Moon).
The main story here is just great actually, after
killing her abusive husband, Marnie is sentenced
to house arrest. The only problem is, her husband
didn't take dying very well. It's got all the
potential in the world to be a creepy and original
ghost story and at times, it really is. Heck,
I haven't jumped as much in several years but
that's not the point here. The point is that
the movie's potential is somewhat overshadowed
by Marnie's flat character, a crappy supporting
cast, an underdeveloped script and cheesy special
effects. Don't get me wrong, Famke really does
everything in her power to turn Marnie into an
interesting and relatable character but there's
no real depth to her character.
Shot on a budget of 10 million dollars, I think
we should be able to expect more actually. 100
Feet just isn't as good as it should've been
and ends up being a very forgettable experience.
For a Friday night with your buddies, it's a
decent horror flick and it won't really disappoint
anyone looking for a scare, I just don't think
that anyone will be overly impressed by it either.
This has all ready been released in a few Asian
countries (South Korea, Philippines etc) and
usually when this happens with American movies,
they end up going DTV in America so when this
one hits DVD, I would recommend checking it out
because it is better than most DTV horrors, much
better, but as a theatrical flick it just doesn't
work. Worth a rent though as long as you're not
expecting anything much from it.

One gory death but that's it.

Mainly noises, nothing to call home about.

A ghost story with all the potential in the world.
100 Feet should have been great but ended up
being mediocre entertainment. It's certainly
good enough to check out on DVD but if it, against
all odds, manages to find its way to US cinemas,
I would wait for the DVD.
