Several murders which involves mutilation have occurred
recently in the Jersey area. These murders forces people
to question themselves if the Jersey Devil is really only a
myth. What is this mysterious creature and will anyone be
able to stop these brutal killings... only time will tell.

I just recently read a review of this on IMDB and
I have to agree with that reviewer as he said that you
really wanted to like it but it just wasn't good cause you
could tell how much effort was put into making this movie.
The back of the video says that it resembles to the
Mothman Prophecies. Well, I don't agree, while "Prophecies"
never really tells you if it was truth or not and remained
mysterious and unsolved, "13th Child" did the opposite and
worked as if the jersey devil was a fact and not just a myth.
Another mistake was blending two stories into
one as it didn't feel very professional.

Steven Stockage did manage to direct this in a way that it looks
above average lowbudget horror. The lighting is excellent in
some scenes and there are many cool special effects and nice
touch-ups here and there. The acting is another story though as
the acting is very unconvincing and it was much too obvious
that there weren't many actors seeking roles in this film.

I wish they had left more to the imagination than they did
since the idea of a horrormovie based on the Jersey Devil is
a really slick one. The main reason why this was such a let
down was because of the script. The story just didn't develop
in an interesting way and I felt like forwarding on many
occasions. To be honest, I expected more from this movie but
what can I say, just because it was nice to look at doesn't
mean it's a good movie.

A lot of mutilated body parts and some poor deer’s get slashed
in pieces but there's nothing in here that will make your
stomach turn.

This I actually liked but you have to keep in mind that I have
a soft point for lowbudget horrormovie soundtracks, hell, Granny
has my all time favourite soundtrack so... Anyway, it basically
consists of some techno music, some pop music and some random
background music so it's really nothing special when you think
about it.

Beautifully directed waste of time, which doesn't leave enough
to the imagination. There are many worse horrormovies based on
legends out there and these guys really did make an effort to
bringing us a horrormovie which tells the story of the Jersey
Devil so it's a shame that it didn't turn out quite as good as
I had hoped.
