Five
unruly teenage girls are sent to a religious
school to pay for their sins. They all have very
different personalities but they soon discover that
they have one thing in common - they all have some
kind of special power. Something which will come very
well in handy when it turns out that the school is
inhabited by thousands of evil demons trying to take
over their souls.

The tagline for this movie should have been "Originality
is not an option!" as this clearly is a rip-off of
"The Craft", as well as many other female witch/demon
movies. Let's face it, it's not exactly a brand new
concept. Luckily, 5ive Girls doesn't take itself very
seriously and ends up being a quite pleasant trip to
the cheese-factory, and it even gives us a couple of
mildly amusing gags.
5ive Girls is about five girls (surprised?) who are
sent to a religious school to make up for their unruly
behaviour. What they don't know is that thousands of
demons are hiding in the third floor of the building,
waiting to be unleashed. So how can five (virgin
I might add) girls defeat these demons you ask. Well,
luckily, they have super powers such as healing wounds
and moving objects with the mind which might help them
in their battle against evil.
As you can hear, the plot is quite ludicrous but I guess
that's what makes these virgin witch movies so much
fun. Speaking of virgin witches, I couldn't help but
to sense a homo-erotic undertone in this movie. I don't
know whether it was the lesbian bitch-fights, the
lesbian kissing or the lesbian spanking though. It's
quite obvious that they didn't aim this at the
"Charmed"-crowd which, if you ask me, they should have.
Why? Because despite all the lesbian things, I still
consider this to be quite the chick-flick.
Ultimately, I thought that 5ive Girls was still a
mildly amusing ride. Sure, the acting is pretty bad
(I never have been a big fan of Ron Perlman), the
dialogues are pretty weak and the plot is, as I said
before, very unoriginal. So what made this movie worth
watching? Well, for many people, probably nothing.
I on the other hand, really enjoyed the cheesiness of
the movie. It occasionally does get quite silly but
how can you not find watching an alien-looking demon
break out of a woman’s body amusing? If you go in with
an open mind, you might enjoy it.

Not much to find here, an impalement is the best thing
we get. The gore wasn't really necessary either, could
have been a PG-13 movie for all I care.

Most of the rock music was decent (even if it felt
somewhat out of place) but I absolutely hated the
Lenny Kravitz song rip-off (you'll know which one
I mean when you see the movie). Overall, the score
was okay but it didn't feel appropriate for this movie.

Cheesy horror flick, but entertaining for only that
reason. Had this movie taken itself too seriously,
I would probably have ended up hating it. As it is
now, I thought it was a decent movie. Definitely
nothing that you have to see, but if you have nothing
better to watch and enjoy these kind of horror flicks,
you might want to give it a try. At least your younger
sister will love it.
