A small
supermarket is getting ready to close for
the night when a group of armed militants invade
the store. At first it seems like an ordinary robbery
but it soon becomes apparent for the people held
hostage inside the store that these robbers aren't
looking for money. The so-called robbers are actually
trying to stop an alien invasion and will stop at
nothing to succeed with their mission.

The Mist meets Alien as another quality horror flick
is unleashed on the DTV market by Raw Feed - the
one DTV horror label that isn't afraid to spend some
serious money on their titles. This one may not be
quite as entertaining as Otis or as clever as Believers
but Alien Raiders is exactly what one would want
from a sci-fi horror flick. Packed with campy special
effects and action-filled shoot-outs. Alien Raiders
grabs you from the get-go and doesn't let up until
the very end. It's well-paced to say the least. There
are however some issues with the movie that we will
bring up at a later point in this review but first,
let's re-cap the story.
A small grocery story is closing for the night when
a group of armed bank-robbers invade the store and
start shooting people immediately. At random it may
seem at first but we soon find out that a lot of the
people inside the store are actually infected by an
alien species. To be able to put an end to all of
it, the "robbers" have to make sure that everyone
in the building is clean. The story takes a couple
of twists and turns along the way and is moderately
exciting through and through. It's a great time-waster
for sure and will definitely keep you interested.
Ben Rock, who hasn't really done anything in his
past except come up with the famous stickman symbol
from BWP, does a surprisingly good job behind the
camera and it's obvious that he's loving every second
of it. The cast really seems to be into it as well.
Yes, Alien Raiders truly could've been an outstanding
horror flick had it not been for the very generic
and forgettable story. I like the main concept but
they didn't really bring anything new to the plate
and the movie quickly becomes very predictable. The
ending is so obvious that you can spot it from miles
away and the characters keep doing stupid things and
making annoying decisions. Other than that, Alien
Raiders is most certainly a horror flick worth renting.
Probably more entertaining for the horror-crowd who
grew up with movies like "Society" and "The Stuff"
than for those who grew up with "Scream" and "I Know
What You Did Last Summer" but it's still something
that I think that everyone can enjoy at least on some
level. Could've been better but still pretty good.

Fingers cut off, a knife through the throat, a lot
of blood splatter and some more.

Nothing worth mentioning as usual.

Entertaining but forgettable sci-fi horror flick in
a supermarket where aliens are taking over the bodies
of humans. Not very groundbreaking but an enjoyable
ride while it lasts and definitely worth renting
since there's nothing else good out anyway.
