After the death of her Siamese twin, Pim moves to
South Korea together with her boyfriend, Wee. Now,
her mother is on her deathbed and they have to return
to Thailand. But what Pim doesn't know is that her
dead twin sister is waiting for her return, as she
blames her for her death.

Alone is the new horror movie from the directors of
the brilliant and terrifying movie "Shutter", and
this is one hell of a follow-up. I have to hand it
to them, I didn't think that they would be able to
pull off another movie as creepy as Shutter, but
Alone comes pretty damn close. I mean, what's scarier
than a Siamese ghost twin that's coming to get you?
There's no place to run, there's no place to hide,
the ghost is attached to you. Why has no one came up
with this concept before?

This terrifying horror flick revolves around Pim and
her boyfriend Wee. After having lived in South Korea
for a couple of years, they have to return to Thailand
as Pim's mother has just had a stroke. But it doesn't
take long before creepy things start to happen around
Pim. It seems as if her dead Siamese twin-sister, Ploy,
has been waiting for her to come back to Thailand so
that she can bring Pim with her to the grave. And to
answer the question you're probably asking yourselves
right about now; yes, Alone does have a creepy ghost
girl in it - but just like in Shutter, this girl is
actually creepy unlike most ghost girls in recent
Asian horror flicks. She has an original (and very
creepy) look to her and she'd scare the living hell
out of me any day.

I don't really know how to describe in words what
I just sat through but I can tell you this, Alone is
a terrifying tale of horror. Just like Shutter, once
Alone has you in its claws, it doesn't let go. It
will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end
credits start to roll. Speaking of the ending,
I thought that all twists had been done by now and
by all means, the twist in Alone doesn't feel all that
refreshing, but I sure as hell didn't see it coming.
It was nice to see that the directors of Alone actually
dared to do something different with the ending rather
than repeating themselves. Without spoiling too much,
I can tell you that the ending does not revolve around
a ghost coming out of the TV nor about a grudge that
never dies. This one actually has a proper ending
which not only entertains, but satisfies
on so many levels.

Ultimately, if Shutter scared you as much as it scared
me, you will definitely want to see Alone. It's not
quite as creepy but it will keep you on the edge of
your seat - and not many movies seem to do that anymore.
This is so far the best horror movie of 2007 and
I can't wait to see what the brilliant minds of these
two guys come up with next. Clearly they are the
current stars of Thai cinema.

Not a whole lot to say here.

Creepy and atmospheric music of course which set the
perfect mood. No real surprises though.

A top-notch and utterly terrifying horror movie with
a great pace, an original and interesting story and
some great scares which will make you jump out of your
seat. If you're as big of a fan of Shutter as I was,
I strongly recommend that you check out Alone as soon
as you can get your hands on it.
