Wyatt and
Hope live a peaceful life on the countryside,
far away from any civilization. One night they get a
visit from a couple of Wyatt's old friends - they've
captured an Alien... Hope has no idea what's going on,
but Wyatt seems awfully calm for the situation. What
only Wyatt knows is that unless they release the alien
back into the wild, the entire human raze will be
extinct - very subtle.

From the director of The Blair Witch Project?! That's
their key selling point? From the director of an
incredibly dull home-made movie that for some reason
made lots of money - that's their selling point? Gee,
that should've prepared me for what I was in for.
Altered might have had decent production values, but
what it didn't have was... well, anything else really.
The movie opens up with a couple of rednecks hunting
an alien through the woods - I figured that this was
just a pretty terrible opening scene and that the
main movie would start soon. Unfortunately, I was
wrong. Turns out the rednecks are the stars of the
movie and that the entire movie takes place inside
an old garage where they torture an alien in various
ways or get into ridiculous fights (remember, they're
rednecks so naturally they have a bad temper - great
writing skills wouldn't you say?). So yeah, the entire
movie pretty much felt like a mediocre opening scene.
What might be even worse is the fact that Wyatt seems
to have an interesting back-story but they never tell
us a whole lot about it. They kind of grace his
complicated background but not nearly enough to make
us root for him. In fact, all of the characters are
pretty flat and stereotypical - well, except for
Wyatt's girlfriend Hope who seems like she has PMS,
going from loving him to hating him in every other frame.
Overall, Altered might be interesting enough if you
have an Alien-fetish as we get to see a whole lot of
the alien (which by the way looks very fake), but
I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. It's
a forgettable and mediocre movie which literally
never leaves the garage.

We get some throat slashing, a lot of intestines and
a decomposing body. Pretty decent.

I have no remarks here to be honest with you.

Altered is your basic, dull Alien movie which doesn't
stand a chance against Evil Aliens and Night Skies.
It's poorly written, you can barely see what's going
on for most of the time due to the fact that the entire
movie takes place in night time, and it's just not
very entertaining. Skip this one.
