It's the
fourth of July and a couple of friends have
prepared the perfect prank. Unfortunately, it doesn't
go exactly like they've planned and one of them ends
up dying. The remaining friends decide to never tell
anyone that it was all just a prank, but one year
later, they start receiving messages that say "I know
what you did last summer". It doesn't take long for
them to realize that the legend about the fisherman
is real and that he's coming for them.

I'm one of the few persons who loved the first two
movies in this franchise and I've been waiting for
this sequel to come along for nearly 7 years now.
Well, it finally showed up and I am so disappointed
that you can not believe it. Sony Home Entertainment
has been making DTV sequels for quite a while now
and most of them have been pretty decent, just look
at Urban Legends: Bloody Mary for example. This led
me to believe that this movie would also be somewhat
decent, but this cheap sequel comes nowhere near
Urban Legend 3's standards.
IAKWYDLS (I can't be bothered writing the entire
moronic title) looks and feels incredibly low-budget.
The directing is just horrible and the entire movie
feels like a bad rock-music video. When we're not
treated with overambitious cinematography, we get
to sit through annoyingly flashy quick cuts which
are frantic enough to give anyone a seizure. The
acting is surprisingly bad and it just isn't the same
without Jennifer Love Hewitt. I mean, Torrey DeVito
can scream as much as she wants but I just don't buy
it. Perhaps it was the script that was lacking since
David Paetkau was great in Final Destination 2 but
completely failed here.
There is a good story in here somewhere (hell, it's
basically the same story as in the first movie) but
it just never really comes through. Hopefully, this
will put the end to this series. I'm really upset
and disappointed since I had such high hopes for
this movie - but perhaps that was my problem. Either
way, it's completely watchable but comes nowhere
near the first two movies in the series so I say,
either bring back Jennifer Love Hewitt or kill this
series for good.

We get two impalements, a slashed throat and some
blood splatter, nothing to get worked up about.

Well, since it looks like a rock music video it might
as well have bad rock music in it I guess. The suspense
score was weak and failed to deliver.

There is one good scare in this movie but that's the
only really positive thing I have to say about this
cheap DTV sequel. Perhaps my expectations were too
high but I just didn't feel like it was as "classy"
as Sony's other DTV sequels. It felt low-budget and
looked horrible. Don't bother with this one, stick
to the first two movies in this franchise.
