Bill and Claire have two separate families but after
many years they've decided to move in together and
try to build a family of their own. Their kids
generally despise each other and it seems as if
moving in together was a stupid idea. One day, Bill
finds an old dollhouse and since his daughters
birthday is coming up he decides to give it to her
as a gift. Well, what he doesn't know is that the
dollhouse is possessed and it's out to Kill Bill!

The Amityville Horror is one of those movies which
has gotten so many sequels that you actually have
no idea how many there are (especially since they're
not numbered) but from my calculations, this should
be the 8th sequel. I might be wrong though. However,
I've actually passed on watching all of the other
sequels and stuck to the original but the DVD cover
for this one just kind of grabbed me. This time the
Amityville House returns as a dollhouse replica.
I don't know why and don't know how it got that way
but that's how it is anyway.
The house seems to be located in the desert but the
original Amityville was set, well in Amityville, New
York so I'm guessing people left Amityville and
buried their houses under stand or something. Anyhow,
the movie was actually pretty creepy. I've always
liked the thought of a haunted dollhouse and even
if this one is possessed and not haunted, it's still
close enough to satisfy me. The movie delivers a
couple of cheap scares (and oh god do we love cheap
scares!) and the plot is not very similar to the
one in the original movie. This time we have a zombie,
fake spiders coming to life and a stepmother who
gets sexually attracted to her stepson. This is
great stuff if I might say so.
Now, what isn't as great is the tons of stupid flaws
that the movie has. To name one, the oldest son in
the family is listening to music in his headphones
and the volume gets turned up by itself, he unplugs
the phones and it goes dead silent. Now, what's
wrong with this picture? He has speakers, why aren't
they blasting out music at a loud volume? At the
end of the movie it was just funny to point out all
the major flaws that it had but I still think that
this was a pretty entertaining flick. Not at all as
bad as people make it out to be, or maybe it's just
due to the fact that I've watched so many very bad
ones this week that I'm easily pleased. Anyway, I
kind of enjoyed it, so check this one out if you're
a fan of the Amityville series.

It's weird that this was rated R, there's no gore
in it except for a burned face which does not really
classify as gore in my opinion.

Nothing special here, in fact, hardly noticeable at
all, but I have no complaints. I'd rather have a
discrete soundtrack than a terrible soundtrack.

Artisan Entertainment may have released some awful
movies in their time but they sure made terrific
DVD sleeves and that's the main reason to why I
wanted to check this one out. I found it pretty
enjoyable actually and at times even creepy.
