A group of students at an elite medical school have
just received the cadaver from which they hope to
learn a lot from. The cadaver is a beautiful young
female with a tacky tattoo on her chest and apparently
the spirit of the cadaver has no intentions of making
this semester easy for the students. Soon enough the
students start turning up dead one by one.

Take a pinch of slasher film, a dash of ghost movie,
a slice of mediocre thriller and a whole lot of nonsense
and what do you get? Another tedious and recycled
South Korean horror film which will struggle to make
it out on the international markets. Anatomy Class,
or Anonymous Blood, or The Cut, or Cadaver... errr,
these South Korean horror flicks sure have a lot of
titles don't they? Anyhoo, as I was saying, Anatomy
Class is a beautifully shot movie that probably couldn't
be much more boring. It's almost two hours long and
I really struggled to watch this until the end. Which
was really strange as the cinematography is usually
enough to keep me interested when it comes to South
Korean horror flicks. Well, not this time.

This years wave of South Korean horror flicks has
consisted of mediocre ghost fares that we've seen lots
of times before, and Anatomy Class is no different.
This time a bunch of students get killed one by one
by a mysterious cadaver who also pops up in the teens
nightmares for whatever reason. Three friends decide
to investigate further into the matter and find out
where the cadaver came from and who the person is. Hmm,
wait a second, last year a Thai movie called "Cadaver"
was released. This was the plot description I wrote
in my review;

"Mai is a medical student who studies anatomy, but her
latest cadaver isn't an ordinary dead body. It doesn't
take long before Mai starts to have ghostly visions of
a woman following her. In order to stop this, she
starts investigating the truth about the dead woman.
Who was she? And what is she trying to tell Mai?"

Sound familiar? I thought so. Anatomy Class definitely
steals a lot from Cadaver, which was by the way also
a very mediocre horror flick. It doesn't improve upon
the concept, nor does it make it worse, but one things
for sure, none of these two movies are worth watching.
So why did I give this a rating of 2/5? Well, first
of all, almost all South Korean horror flicks get an
instant 1/5 just for the beautiful cinematography and
that's also the case with Anatomy Class. But Anatomy
Class also has a couple of mildly suspenseful scenes
which made it bearable to watch. It's also a rather
complex movie which I appreciated but that's about it.

Overall, I didn't like Anatomy Class but I didn't hate
it either. It's rather tedious and difficult to sit
through due to its running time and slow pace but it's
not quite as generic as most recent ghost stories have
been. I mean, there wasn't a long-haired ghost girl
in here and that has got to be worth something right?
Anyway, if I were you, I'd skip it and hope that next
years South Korean horror flicks will be better.

Some minor gore, nothing huge.

Recycled stuff, it's been done.

Forgettable and occasionally tedious ghost story which
I found difficult to sit through due to its slow
pacing and uninteresting storyline. It has got a couple
of redeeming qualities but not nearly enough to make
it a good movie so don't bother checking this one out
unless you're in love with South Korean horror tales.
