A group of rich
friends end up accidentally killing a
girl when an April fools prank goes terribly wrong.
One year later, someone is back for revenge and starts
killing the friends off one by one. But who could it be?

When mediocre 80's slasher flicks that have been
forgotten by everyone but the horror fans get remade,
you know that Hollywood is getting desperate. Don't
fret though, April Fool's Day is basically a remake in
name only - and get this, this time it's NOT mediocre!
It's FUCKING AWFUL! If you ask me, the trailers for
April Fool's Day and Prom Night looked pretty similar
and this is the one that was sent straight to DVD
(even though I think that both should have been sent
DTV) - well, that's probably a good move seeing as how
the movie felt like a cheap TV-flick by Hallmark.
Heck, it didn't even feel like a new movie, it felt
like it was made in the late 90's so it's not just the
cover-art that's outdated.
The story is little like the original and only the
basic concept remains intact (oh and the stupid twist
at the end that everyone hated - why would they keep
that?!). This time, a bunch of REALLY annoying rich
kids end up killing a girl when an April fool's prank
goes terribly wrong. One year later, someone starts
killing the teens one by one. It sounds like a normal
slasher flick, right? Well not really. You know how
the cover-art looked kind of drawn? Well I'm guessing
that those pictures of the cast were really photos as
the entire cast is wearing so much make-up that they
walk around looking photoshopped all the time. Add the
fact that they're rich, spoiled and extremely annoying
and you'll understand just how much I hated the
characters in this movie (portrayed by some below
mediocre actors who were made for this kind of crappy
DTV slasher flicks).
To be fair, the movie starts out... well... it starts
out quite bad and I thought that it was going to be
a generic, dull slasher flick. But as time went by,
I realized that it got worse by every minute. It was
as if the entire crew for the film gave up more and
more by every scene and knew that they were making
shit. Perhaps it was originally intended for a theatrical
release, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that they
knew about half-way through shooting this crap that it
was bound for a DTV release. Heck, some scenes are so
bad that they're unintentionally funny. Wait, no, scratch
that, they're so bad that they're beyond unintentionally
funny, they don't make you laugh, they just make you
shake your head in shame.
Many people also complained about the lack of gore in
the original, well, once again this has removed all
the good stuff from the original while keeping the
weaknesses. April Fools Day was obviously made for the
PG-13 crowd (if that). Okay by now I think I've lost
most of you readers so if anyone's still reading, ask
yourself; why? Are you really still considering checking
this piece of crap out? If this movie was a prank, it
was the most unfunny prank ever.

A slit throat.

What were they smoking? This sounded like the score
for some cheesy 80's TV-soap. What the heck? Did they
steal this from Days of Our Lives or what?

AWFUL. Pure awfulness. For those of you who are not
American and wonder what the word awful means - watch
April Fool's Day. You'll know what it means. God damn
this was bad. I knew it was going to be a stinker but
geesh, this smelled worse than the milk I have in my
fridge that expired 3 months ago.
