Ash is sent back through time and to get back to the
20th century he has to search for a book, the Necronomicon,
which lies in the cemetery of the dead. Before he takes
the book from the cemetery he has to say three words or
he will awaken the army of darkness. After a long journey
Ash finally finds the book but forgets to say the words.
Now, he and his newfound army has to fight against the
army of the dead or Ash might never be able to get back
to his own time again.

The third, final and the best of the Evil Dead movies.
Many people that have yet to see Army Of Darkness might
think that it's a gory cult movie, well it is a cult
movie but the movie was made almost solely for laughs.
This movie is set in the medieval and they have really
managed to pull it off pretty well. If you overlook some
special effects, this movie looks like any newly released
movie. They really have made an effort making this movie
and you can tell. The cult trilogy has just grown bigger
and bigger over the years, Evil Dead was actually the
least successful of the three while Army Of Darkness was
the most successful so it beats me why they didn't make
a fourth one while they were at it.

I don't think that anyone disagrees with me when I say
that Sam Raimi is an excellent director. While the first
two movies look good, they are nothing compared to this
one. Bruce Campbell, who is by the way one of my favourite
actors, really gets into character as always and we get
a brilliant performance from not only him but also the
supporting cast.

Army Of Darkness might not be the horrormovie that the
previous two Evil Dead movies were but what makes it
better than the other ones is the sarcastic black humour
which is of much bigger importance in this than in
the other two movies. This is a movie that you can watch
over and over again and never get sick of it and that
is probably why this is the cult horrormovie that it has
become over the years even if it really doesn't feel
like a horror movie.

The gore is minimal, at least in the theatrical version
for I still haven't seen the director's cut. All we get
is a dry spear through stomach scene and a gory looking
zombie/skeleton/demon face.

They have really managed to catch the medieval spirit
with the soundtrack. The score basically sounds like just
about any other medieval flick. It's nothing special but
it's exactly the way it should be.

I'm assuming that most people have already seen this
about a hundred times but if you're one of those who
still haven't seen it, you really should consider
doing so. Army Of Darkness is basically just a black
comedy so if you expect a lot of horror and gore
you're wrong. This is just one hell of a movie.
