A new
tropical island is opening up for business
in Fiji and what's so special about this island
is that it has a zoo with sabre-toothed tigers.
Naturally the tigers manage to escape and start
munching on the investors and security guards.
Is there any way to stop these sabretooth's before
they've killed everyone on the island?

It's not often that the Sci-Fi channel manages
to come up with a new idea, and sure, the idea
of a killer sabretooth is recycled, but this
time they've actually done something out of the
ordinary. The movie takes place in Fiji, which
I really appreciated since I'm a bit sick of
their usual cave and mountain sets and sure,
Fiji isn't the creatures natural habitat but
plot holes like that I can overlook when they
actually try to think outside of the box.
Another positive thing I have to say about this
movie is that it doesn't have the usual bad and
good guys, nor does it have a bunch of army guys
running around trying to kill the creature. Sadly,
that's where my positive comments stop.
The plot is quite dreadful and I completely lost
interest in the movie after approximately an hour.
It has some serious pacing problems and some
silly subplots that I could have done very well
without. The way that the sabretooth's escape is
also quite ludicrous. The acting is relatively
bad and the CGI-effects are absolutely horrendous.
As you can hear, this movie is not all that great
but I'm still appreciative of the fact that the
Sci-Fi channel tried to do something out of the
ordinary and that's why I cut this movie some slack.
It's definitely not a movie that you have to see
unless you're a big fan of creature features, but
it's a lot better than many of the Sci-Fi channels
productions so you could do worse.

We get some bit off arms and legs, as well as a
bit off head. We also get some cheap intestines
but over-all, it could've been drier.

The bongo drums work relatively well but the
score over-all felt very uncreative.

Attack Of The Sabretooth is by no means a great
movie, it's not even a good one, but I really do
love the fact that the Sci-Fi channel did something
slightly different for once as this is one of
their more original releases. Check this one out
if you're a die-hard creature feature fan but
otherwise, it's not really worth the time.
