Emma and her family have just moved into a new house
where they quickly become unhappy. Emma is certain
that her evil twin sister, Beth, who died at birth, is
haunting her and trying to kill her family. However,
no one wants to believe her. Is Emma insane or is her
twin sister Beth still alive?

From the director of Pet Semetary the cover states.
Well, a more appropriate tagline would be "From the
director of Urban Legends: Bloody Mary" as there's
nothing spooky or creepy about this film. It's yet
another mediocre, clichéd and uneventful DTV horror
flick with a plot so predictable and old that you know
exactly what's going to happen after about five minutes.
Seriously, an evil twin sister that lives in the attic
and everyone thinks that Emma is crazy. Hmm, how on
earth could this play out? Well, guess what, the ending
is just as predictable and clichéd as you had expected.
I was actually rather surprised since I didn't think
that they would take that clichéd old road but sure
enough, there it was.

So what's the movie about... well... it's about a
teenage girl called Emma. We know nothing about her
past and haven't got a clue why she's acting so
strange all the time. Anyhoo, one day she goes up
in the attic, only to find her dead evil twin sister
waiting for her there. Is it a ghost or is it
reality or is Emma just imagining it? Take a wild
guess why don't you. Meanwhile, her family isn't very
supportive and Emma's struggling to stay sane while
her evil twin sister keeps haunting her. Do I really
need to go on? Haven't we all seen this one too many
times before? That's what I thought.

The Attic isn't all bad. It's nicely shot and looks
professionally made. The actors all give us rather
strong performances and for what it's worth, it's
surprisingly watchable. Had it not been for the
disappointing twist ending I would probably have given
it a higher rating believe it or not since I did
enjoy many aspects of the movie. The story is somewhat
intriguing and you're really interested in what's
going to happen next. Ultimately, The Attic isn't a
horrible movie, nor would I call it a waste of time,
it's just that I've seen this type of movie so many
times before that I've grown sick of it. The twist is
too clichéd and the story is too predictable.

A slit throat.

Beautiful piano theme melody but the rest of the
soundtrack was rather mediocre.

Forgettable and clichéd evil twin story that we've seen
a hundred times before - at least. It's simply been
done to death so I think that Mary Lambert has some
serious catching up to do if she thought that this was
original. Could have been decent but that pathetic
excuse for an ending really ruined it at all.
