A group of friends decide to go for a weekend of partying
at a remote cabin in the woods. At first everything seems
to go just as planned but soon a machete wielding killer
shows up and spoils the fun! The friends have to run for
their lives while the mad killer is offing them one by one.

I hope you people are happy. I've gotten over 20, yes over
20 requests to review this flick now. I've had it on my DVD
shelf for ages but since I've heard nothing but terrible
things about it I've skipped it... until now. Some of you
people must really hate me since you wanted me to sit
through this abysmal slasher flick, this has got to be one
of the worst movies ever to get put on a DVD disc. Why
would anyone dig up this old rubbish and release it on
DVD with a kick-ass cover? I mean, yes the cover rocks and
looks great in my DVD collection but calling this a movie
would be a shame, if not even a lie.

Ax 'Em is a 70 minute long (believe me, that's long enough
for you to want to commit suicide) no budget slasher flick
shot by a couple of ghetto friends. The movie was released
in 2002 or 2003 or something like that but it doesn't
really look like a brand new movie so I did some serious
investigation and it turns out that this movie is from 1994
(not from 1992 as some people seem to think) but I'm still
going to list this as being from 2002 as that's when it
was first released to the public.

The "story" is about a couple of friends who run into a
machete wielding psychopath while "partying" at a cabin.
This so called story also has a back-story which makes no
sense at all. We get to see some black and white photography
where a man shoots his family and then himself with a
shotgun (a la Amityville Horror) for no apparent reason.
Wouldn't it be better if we got some back-story for the
killer instead who just seems to be there.

Michael Mfume is responsible for this incoherent mess of a
film and it looks like he used at least two different
cameras while shooting it since some scenes look relatively
good (well, you know what I mean, you can see what's going
on in them) while a couple of scenes are unbelievably blurry.
And as if that wasn't enough, the editing is awful with way
too many fade-outs. At least they provided a whole lot of
food for the cast though as they spend 30% of the movies
running time eating.

I don't get why this ever got a DVD release, the movie is
completely worthless and there is hardly a red line to
follow in the movie. This blaxploitation flick from the
mid 90s is as awful as they get and there even seems to
be a slightly negative tone against white people in this.
Anyway, don't do the same mistake that I did and buy this
flick, I should've realized that this would be awful when
the special features on the back of the DVD says; Special
Features: Stereo Sound.

An axe in the head and a machete in the head.

This was the best thing about the movie as I kind of like
breakdance music. We also get some hip-hop tunes and the
suspense score is pretty cool even if far from effective.

This might be the worst horror movie in history. It is
extremely low budget (600 dollars or so I think the budget
was) and most of the money seem to have been spent on
food for the cast. Avoid this utter trash even if the
cover is really cool.
