Angie is a very
religious girl who has just moved away
from home to attend college. Her new roommate is
anything but ideal and the room itself is even worse.
To afford a new bed, Angie now has to work as a
babysitter on the weekends, and it just so happens to
be that a couple on the outside of town is looking
for a new babysitter. But this isn't going to be a
quiet evening in front of the TV as Angie soon finds
herself terrorized by a mysterious man.

After having sat through dozens of movies that ranged
from abysmal to somewhat watchable, it was nice to
see a movie that actually stood out. Babysitter Wanted
is not some "When A Stranger Calls" rip-off, on the
contrary, it's severely better than "Stranger" in
every possible way. In fact, this is the best on-screen
interpretation of the urban legend since Halloween.
Surprised? So was I. Babysitter Wanted is a non-stop
thrill-ride which doesn't hold back on the gore, or
the scares, or the surprises. See, Babysitter Wanted
starts out like any other horror movie, but not
everything is as it seems.
Angie has just moved to a new town and has all ready
met a cute boy and gotten herself a job as a babysitter.
But on her first night babysitting Sam, a very peculiar
kid who doesn't really say much and eats nothing else
than extremely rare meat, terror knocks on the door.
I don't really want to say anything more than that as
I don't want to ruin the twist for you, but believe
you me, it's a GREAT twist which I did not see coming.
What's even greater is that the twist is only like
halfway into the movie so from there on we are treated
with 40 minutes of non-stop screaming, chasing, slashing
and just a whole lot of fun.
It's been a long time since I had so much fun while
watching a horror flick actually. It's brilliantly
directed, it has a very talented cast and it oozes
of suspense. But naturally it has some minor issues
as well - the biggest one being Angie who is way too
religious. I don't care much for overly religious
people as I find them to be quite ignorant (what does
it take to make them understand that when we die, we
die?), and this all leads up to a ridiculously bad
ending. Fortunately, all the action is over by then
leaving the viewer uninterested in the finale.
Other than that however, Babysitter Wanted is a kick-ass
film and one of the best horror movies of the year.
It's got everything a horror fan could ask for - and
more! I'm so happy to see that someone finally treated
this urban legend with respect and did it justice,
because it really is a great concept - and they even
took it one step further. Don't miss out on this
brilliant horror movie as this is one of the must-see's
of the year. Believe you me.

We get guts, severed body parts, feet getting impaled
and a whole lot of blood. Great stuff.

While the soundtrack was stellar, it had a tendency
to be overpowering at times which draw the attention
away from the atmosphere of the movie.

One of the best horror movies of the year. Babysitter
Wanted is a suspenseful and extremely entertaining
horror flick which beats the crap out of the remake
of "When A Stranger Calls". Finally a movie that will
stick with me for a while! Don't miss this.
