Some friends break into an abandoned house for a
game of backstabbed. Backstabbed is a new game that
has become really big in America recently, at least
that's what the friends think. The object of the game is
to find a fake weapon hidden by the other contestants
in the house and then try to stab someone with it, the
one who's left at the end wins. But soon the friends
realize that someone is taking the game too
seriously and fake weapons become very unpopular.

Backstabbed is a VERY average slasher that adds
nothing new to the genre. It's a quite clever movie
but it feels very stretched out to reach a longer
running time than an hour. There's no real plot,
basically it's just teens walking around in a house
getting killed, and since there are only four teens
involved, the killings can only be so many. However,
I was expecting something really terrible, first of
all I read the back of the Danish video release which
I understood squat of, however, I did manage to
make out that there was something about a pig
involved so I drew my conclusions that the killer
wore a pig mask. Well, short to say, I was very
wrong, there is no mask involved here and the crew
behind the film doesn't exactly suck on the secret
of who the killer is for very long. But compared
to other Danish horror films that I have seen, this
was like a masterpiece... well, actually I think
I've only seen one Danish horror film before, but
that one was just so terrible that I lost all faith
in Danish film industry.

I would have to say that the acting is pretty good.
I would have liked if they spoke a little slower though
since I am Swedish and Danish is really a quite easy
language to understand if they would just speak slowly.
Well, I guess it wasn't made for the rest of the Scandinavian
audience, especially considering the fact that it was never
released outside Denmark. Then we have the directing,
which I have very mixed feelings about. Now, while most
of the movie was shot in the dark and looked creepy
and good, the few scenes that were shot outside in the
daytime looked terrible. It looked as if it was a dream
sequence from Days Of Our Lives. Other than that I was
surprised that the directing looked so good since I know
that it was shot on a very low budget.

While Backstabbed is far from excellent, there are still
some very intense and suspenseful scenes that were
magnificent. Those scenes made this movie worth
watching but I have a hard time picturing me sitting
through this movie again. Especially since it was so
slow and didn't have a very good story to it. This was
more like an 80's slasher since it didn't have the
same regular factors in it as modern slashers do,
I guess that's because Scream hadn't been released yet
when they were making this movie.

Surprise, surprise, most stabbings here, but we also get
some cool impalements and a slit throat.

Very cheesy that's really all I have to say, it plays
in the background almost non-stop. We do get some
classical music aswell though.

Average Danish slasher that has almost nothing in
common with modern day slashers, so if you are into
older slashers, I suggest that you check it out.
It is a teen slasher though. It does have some
suspense in it and it doesn't really lack in gore either so
I think that any real slasher fan might want to give this
one a try, that is if you are willing to read subtitles, I don't
believe there is an English dubbed version of this released.
