A rescue team is sent back 100 million years in time
to find a team that has been stuck there since the 70's
when a time-travel experiment failed. While searching
for the lost crew, they also have to battle all kinds
of unexpected dangers such as venomous plants and
flesh-eating dinosaurs. Will they find the crew and
be able to bring them back to modern day society before
it's too late?

Why go back 10,000 years BC when you can go back 100
MILLION years BC? That's probably what the guys over
at The Asylum thought when they decided to shoot this
ridiculous sci-fi horror flick. Usually their movies
are knock-offs in title and in story but this time
the title is the only thing the movie has in common
with a theatrical flick. I just found out that the
release of this DVD has been pushed forward to the end
of July so I'm very happy that I managed to grab a
screener copy of this on eBay just last week, most
likely this was due to some CGI issues such as when
a CGI-made dinosaur leaves a CGI trace on the screen.
Anyway, so keep in mind that the version that I've seen
most likely isn't the final version but it's probably
not far away.

100 million years before Christ is a typical Sci-Fi
channel flick. It's basically a low-budget version of
A Sound Of Thunder and it's entertainment value is about
the same. It's about a rescue team that travels back
in time to save a military team that was part of an
experiment in the 70s and got stuck 100m years BC.
Naturally they encounter dinosaurs and other dangerous
things and this part isn't all that bad. In fact, it's
actually a pretty decent film until the second act of
the movie kicks in and we're stuck watching people fly
around in helicopters while a gigantic t-rex smashes
buildings. SuperCroc flashbacks. This part of the movie
really drags on and on and on until the point where
I found myself using the fast forward button several
times. I don't normally like to do this but what do
you really expect from me considering all the rubbish
that I have to sit through?

Let's cut to the chase though, 100M BC is watchable
but I'm thinking that it'll be a whole lot easier to
sit through when it's on TV as you kind of need those
commercial breaks with a movie like this. It's
certainly nothing new or original but at least they
didn't rip off 10,000 BC. And thank god it's better
than most creature features that The Asylum has produced
in the past. I mean, come on, SuperCroc was just
beyond awful. If you liked "A Sound Of Thunder" you
will enjoy this unofficial sequel (yeah, that's more
or less what it is) that doesn't break any new grounds
but does it best to keep you entertained. Some of the
time it succeeds and some of the time you find yourself
bored out of your mind.

Nothing worth commenting on.

Again, nothing worth commenting on.

The Asylum produces crap but we all know that by now
and 100,000,000 BC isn't as bad as most of the movies
that The Asylum churns out. Certainly it's nothing to
get excited about though and when it finally does hit
DVD, you probably should stay clear of it. Still, it's
watchable, but just barely.
