Gentech Research
Lab is a mysterious company that is very much
hated by the locals since they seem to be doing dangerous and
illegal experiments inside the building. When six friends decide
to spend the night next to the Gentech facility things start to
go out of hand at Gentech. When the alarm starts beeping loudly
across the halls of Gentech, a fatal gas starts coming out from
the ventilation systems, turning the employees to flesh eating
zombies. Now, 9 souls are trapped inside the building and they
have to try to escape from their living nightmare.

If you've read my review on The Risen, you know that I'm not a
very big fan of zombie movies. Even if this obviously was a
no budget movie, I thought it was a pretty descent zombie flick.
Many people like to compare this to Resident Evil, so ofcourse
my expectations were quite high since I really enjoyed Resident
Evil. Even if this is a decent zombie flick, I personally don't
think it comes even close to Resident Evil. What bothered me
most about the movie was the poor story, anyone can make up
a zombie flick like this, there was nothing original to it.
I did like something
about the movie though, the directing
started out by looking really low budget, but I thought it just
got better and better as the movie went along. Some scenes even
look quite good... if it wouldn't have been for all the shaking
with the camera, that felt very homemade. If you are on a low
budget, I think you should watch Granny (1999), they had no
budget making that movie, but even so, it looked really good,
only because they kept the camera still all the time.
The acting was
nothing out of the ordinary low budget acting.
The actors felt totally uninspired and they never seemed very
scared, when they were hammering on the doors and such, they
looked like they were being cautious so that the door wouldn't
break down.
There are two
different DVD boxes out there, one where you get
to see a bloody zombie and one were you see a blurry face or
something like that, personally I prefer the zombie one, the
other one looks as if it was made in Windows Paint, you know
that program that always comes along free with your PC.
I did enjoy this movie but I don't think it was good enough
to deserve a full three, if I could I would give it 2 and a
half, but I guess I'm just too lazy to design new stars pics.

Surprisingly non gory. It says on the box that it has won an
award for best makeup FX... well, was this the only movie
competing in this genre? All we get is a lot of arm biting,
neck biting, and biting at other places. We do get some gut-
eating and some chainsaw through stomach action, but nothing
very impressive. The zombies did look quite cool though.

I felt like muting this movie 2-3 times! That siren that just
wouldn't stop beeping and that telephone beeping loud enough
to make you get hearing problems. Most of the time it's pretty
good
though, we get a lot of rock music and we also get
some very
amateurish hip-hop music.

This is only for the lowbudget zombie fans. If you hear someone
comparing it to Resident Evil, make sure to ask that person
if he/she liked Resident Evil since many zombie fans despise it
and can compare just about any movie to it. I did enjoy this
movie but all I can say is... think twice before renting it
or you might be disappointed.
