Someone is killing the bad students at colleges all over Spain,
disguising himself as the dark minstrel so when the murders
start occurring at the college where Alex goes, she decides to
try to solve the mystery once and for all. What she doesn't
know is that she might be the dark minstrels next victim...

Originally titled Tuno Negro, this Spanish screamesque slasher
opens with one of the best opening scenes I have ever witnessed
in a slasher. Unfortunately the rest of the movie fails to
deliver what we got in the opening; suspense, good acting,
good-looking girls and a cool killing. There are also many plot
holes in the movie, some minor spoilers ahead, we are told
that the killer only kills the three worst students at each
school, however, the bodycount is much higher on this college
and the students haven't even taken the final exam yet.
Fake blonds and ugly brunettes fill our screen for the coming
one and a half hour. I think you were supposed to rout for
young Alex but I just found her a total slut which made her
part as a smart student very unbelievable. Other than that
the acting is everything from average to really bad. The
directing impresses with nice contrasts and clever scene
transitions. There are also a couple of jump scenes which are
needed to keep the movie interesting.
I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed as Spanish
slashers usually tend to have a good story. While this was
quite an original story for being a slasher, it was much too
predictable and simple to really work. Good acting couldn't
have saved this movie but it still wasn't a complete waste
of time. It is actually quite entertaining if you're just a
no-brainer slasherfan like me and don't care a lot about the
fact that the story is weak and such so I have to cut it
some slack, I never felt like fast forwarding so I guess it
attracted me in some way.

A quite gory dissection and some blood splatter is obviously
not the reason for the 18 certificate rating that this movie
got in Spain. I would have to guess that it was the high
amount of unnecessary nudity and drawn-out sex scenes.

This was very mixed, we get rock, pop, techno and ofcourse
a lot of serenades. Pretty good soundtrack actually.

Stupid but entertaining slasher which fails to impress. This
is nothing that you wanna spend your last bucks on but if
you're a sucker for slashers, you might find this quite good.
If you live in Spain or Germany, check it out, but I'm quite
certain that this hasn't reached many other countries despite
the fact that Warner Bros holds the rights for it in Spain.
