A madman with bleeding eyes escaped from his
mental institution three months ago and has
returned to the place where he was born.
Meanwhile, a girl rock band is on their way
to a concert when their car breaks down in
the middle of nowhere. They decide to hike
through the woods but what they don't know
is that they're walking right into the arms
of the bleeding madman.

Blödaren, roughly translates into "The Bleeder"
was the first real horror movie to come out
of Sweden and is this a bad one or what. The
movie is basically a cheesy Swedish take on
"The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" only without
the suspense and gore. The story which
revolves around a couple of chicks hiking
through the woods is completely ludicrous.
As if the girls wouldn't have stayed by
the car to wait for help in the first place.

Not one of the characters are likeable. All
chicks are bitchy and nasty to each other,
it's like they don't even like their fellow
band members. The killing doesn't begin until
very far into the movie and the kills are
some of the lamest ever. If this was an
American produced movie it would definitely
have been rated PG-13. Hans Hatwig is
responsible for the directing and even
though it looks really cheap I was still
rather impressed with the directing seeing
as how this was the first shot on video
movie ever made, not Blood Cult like
many people would like to suggest.

This movie is still a true classic for us
Swedes however. I remember watching this
when I was just a little kid (but even then
it didn't scare me at all) and at least
for me, this is nostalgia on high levels.
Blödaren might not be a good film, but this
is a movie that every Swedish speaking
horror fan has got to see as this is cult.
However, if you don't speak Swedish or have
any connection to Sweden at all, you will
not be able to enjoy this cheesy slasher.

Nothing at all.

Obviously inspired by Halloween and Friday
the 13th with high pitched noises and piano
music. Works pretty well though.

Terrible Swedish slasher flick which should
be in every Swedish horror fans collection
since this is a true cult classic. However,
for everyone else, this will just feel like
a lame low budget "Texas Chain Saw Massacre"
rip-off so don't go hunting for this one.
