22 years ago an evil was unleashed, a voodoo curse possessed an
aviator which made him kill all of his colleagues. Now, the
voodoo curse is back and someone in a pilot mask is killing off
a bunch of hard working people at a museum. Who is this
mysterious killer and is there any way
to stop the voodoo curse?

I've seen enough DTV slashers to know that you should never get
your hopes up because you will only get disappointed, especially
when it starts Debbie Rochon. That's why Blood Relic came as a
pleasant surprise. I actually rather enjoyed this predictable
little slasher flick. The plot is pretty nonsense and ten
minutes into the movie I had predicted who the killer was, it
really couldn't be more obvious. So what makes Blood Relic so
different from all the other DTV slashers? Well, first of all,
the killer has a very cool mask, the movie looks low budget but
the picture is still pretty crisp, the movie never gets slow
and the silly story is actually pretty intriguing.

The movie is nicely shot even if it's obviously very low budget.
It appears that the director did the best that he could with the
little he had and he actually did one hell of a job. As I've
mentioned many times before, I'm not a big fan of Debbie Rochon
but I have to be honest with you, she was actually pretty good
here, she really gave her everything which was nice to see. The
rest of the cast is also pretty strong even if they're far
from brilliant actors. The movie basically follows the basic
slasher concept, masked killer shows up and kills a group of
partying teens but I have to believe that it was due to the
actors that this movie kept my interest. Well, either that or
all the nudity, either way, I was interested through the entire
movie and that's all that matters really.

Why they decided to call this flick "Blood Relic" is just
beyond me though. A slasher should always have a title which
makes it obvious that it's a slasher otherwise it might
attract the wrong audience. I actually thought that this would
be a bad voodoo flick but the voodoo curse has a very small
part in the movie. In fact, it feels kind of unnecessary to
even have the voodoo curse in here. Anyway, the bottom line is
that I really enjoyed this movie, despite some major flaws and
its predictable story so this is definitely one for the slasher
fans out there who hunger for a new masked killer.

Disappointingly enough we only get some minor gore like blood
coughing, a knife in the forehead and some intestines. I had
actually expected more seeing as how the killer uses an axe
to slaughter his victims.

The soundtrack could have been a whole lot better I can tell
you that. The midi drums and cheap background music simply
didn't do it for me.

Surprisingly good slasher even if far from brilliant. Very
predictable for the slasher fan but for rookies it might be a
little less predictable. Either way, this was a pretty cool
movie and I'd advice any slasher fan to see it, especially
for the original and cool mask.
