Anne and Michael are having some relationship issues
and decide to go on a bike trip in the mountains together
to solve some of them. What Michael doesn't know is
that Anne recently cheated on him with a guy named Chris.
And what Anne doesn't know is that Chris is a deranged
serial killer who wants her all for himself...

High Tension, Broken and Wolf Creek were all terrific
survival horror movies, and Blood Trails is the latest
addition to the ever-so-popular subgenre. Starting
out with flashy opening credits and slamming music,
you just know that this is going to be an entertaining
movie - and it was! While it might not be quite as
great as the movies mentioned above, it's not far
behind. Shot on DV, this movie not only looks amazing,
but is also incredibly well made with stunning
cinematography and surprisingly good acting.

The movie follows Anne as she's on a biking trip with
her boyfriend Michael - who she recently cheated on.
For her it might have just been a one night stand but
for the other guy, Chris, it was apparently much more.
The couple soon find themselves chased by a psychotic
serial killer (it's Chris, no secret identity here),
and with several miles to the nearest town, their
only hope is to bike for their lives.

As you can hear, the story is pretty simple. It's a
slasher movie on wheels more or less, but believe it
or not - this was actually a very smart move. Since
it didn't have to focus on silly subplots or annoying
twists that make no sense, it had more time to focus
on creating some really intense and suspenseful scenes
that managed to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Rebecca Palmer plays the part of Anne almost flawlessly.
Anne is relatable and even though she comes off as a
bit insensitive at times, she feels like a real person.
Unfortunately Rebecca didn't get a whole lot of dialogue,
but the few lines she did get, she nailed (there's not
a whole lot of dialogue in the entire movie actually).
The only thing that really bothered me about Blood
Trails was the abrupt ending. Yeah, it was a good way
to end the movie (even if it was very predictable),
but I felt like they could have made it a bit longer.

With that being said, this is one of those movies that
are over before you know it. It's got a great pace
through and through, and there's really not a moment
of boredom to be found in this movie. With few flaws,
Blood Trails is yet another "must have" in your DVD
collection. If you're a fan of survival slasher flicks,
this is not one to be missed.

It's quite bloody but not really gory. We get a
slashed throat and a mutilated body, but that's about it.

Excellent stuff here. The music really works well
together with the movies and the fast-paced sounds
played in the chase scenes were great.

Blood Trails is a superb slasher flick with style. It
looks great and it's got a tight and suspenseful story
which will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is
one of the better horror movies of the year so if you're
a fan of movies like Wolf Creek and High Tension, don't
miss this one.
