When Sarah's
friend dies under mysterious circumstances,
Sarah starts to wonder if perhaps there is a boogeyman
out there, feeding on our fears. As her friends start
to go missing one by one, and with her nightmares
becoming increasingly realistic, it seems as if
Sarah is either going crazy, or the boogeyman is real.

It seems as if every single company out there is
churning out DTV sequels to theatrical horror flicks
that did decent numbers. Ghost House Pictures is
also one of these companies but what makes Ghost
House's DTV sequels less... how should I put this...
pathetic, is that they're actually worth checking
out. Hell, Boogeyman 2 even got a wide theatrical
release in several countries and did good numbers.
No wonder they decided to do a Boogeyman 3.
The first Boogeyman was a bland ghost story at best.
It offered nothing new and was confusing and aimed
at a teen-crowd. The second Boogeyman was a nice
surprise, it was a well-made slasher flick with
decent production values. So what is the third one?
Well believe it or not but it actually ties the
two previous movies together quite neatly and comes
out as a supernatural slasher flick. No, this isn't
just a stand-alone DTV horror sequel, it actually
continues where the 2nd left off and doesn't ignore
the first movie either. I have to tell you, I'm
impressed! Someone obviously spent a lot of time
on developing this movie and I hereby declare a
franchise that started out so weakly to be one of
the best current DTV franchises.
What's so impressive about Boogeyman 3 is that it's
well-written, it's believable and it's surprisingly
original for a ghost story. The production values
aren't quite as high as they were for Boogeyman 2,
at least it doesn't look like it, but I'm still
hoping that this also gets a theatrical release in
some countries. I say bring back the fourth one
to cinemas, this franchise has earned our respect.
Obviously it's not all great though. The acting is
sub-par, the CGI effects are lacklustre and the
boogeyman isn't very menacing this time around
(I really could have done without the evil moahahaha
laughs, it was very cheesy).
You know, I could've never expected a franchise this
entertaining to rise from something so mediocre.
This really makes me excited about The Messengers 2
as I actually liked the first one. Heck, maybe even
The Grudge 3 will come out decent. I seriously doubt
it though and Ghost House doesn't seem to be behind
that one either. Anyway, if you enjoyed Boogeyman 2
as much as I did, you will certainly enjoy Boogeyman 3
as well. This franchise is improving by every addition
and I really hope that we get a fourth one soon.

Some guts and some blood splatter.

I didn't really take notice, I was too busy being
entertained (which doesn't happen often these days).

Boogeyman 3 may not be without its flaws but this is
the perfect DTV flick in the sense that it entertains,
it delivers what it promises and it even offers a
bit of originality. Extremely entertaining and I
can't wait to see what a fourth one might bring us.
Thank god for Ghost House huh?
