It's been one year since the horrible massacre took place
at Camp Blackwoods and a Hollywood director has decided
to make a film out of the story. He decides to bring the
sole survivor from the massacre back to the place where
it all happened along with a hot cast. Well, filming goes
from bad to worse when the killer clown shows up once
again to kill the cast and the crew.
Since Camp Blood 3: Within The Woods is being released any
day now, I decided that it was time to finally revisit this
awful but so hilarious slasher flick. Funny thing that the
3rd movie would be called Within The Woods actually seeing
as how the movie they're shooting in this flick has the
exact same title. Anyway, Camp Blood was a groundbreakingly
cheesy slasher flick shot on a shoestring budget which
could only be enjoyed by true slasher enthusiastic. Well,
I wasn't a big fan of the first movie even if it was
unintentionally very funny, but this sequel is actually
even worse even though the production values were noticeably
higher than in the first flick.
The movie within a movie thing has been done to death in
the slasher genre and there is not one original bone in
this flick. At least the first one had the killer attack
people in groups, which was original for the time being,
but this one has got absolutely nothing going for it.
The acting is beyond abysmal and why they decided to bring
back Jennifer Ritchkoff, one of the worst actors in horror
movie history, is something which I will never understand.
The directing is awful and just like with the first one,
this looks like it was filmed by a home DV-cam even though
this one had a higher budget.
The Camp Blood movies will however always be legendary to
me and there is a certain entertainment value in them,
believe it or not. This is not a movie which will put you
to sleep, because it's not a dull movie, it's just a very,
very bad one which is why I have to recommend this to
slasher fans. I mean, you can't rate yourself as a slasher
fan if you haven't seen these abysmal slasher flicks
since there is definitely something special about them...
I just can't put my finger on what it is.
Even though we get machete impalements, slit throats and
hands being chopped off, the special effects are so bad
that they might as well have cut all the gore out and
rated this PG-13 instead.
Just like with the first film, the music and sound effects
are impressively bad. I just don't get how people can
make a soundtrack as bad as this. It really does sound as
if it was made by a 10-year old boy having fun with his
"new" Cakewalk MIDI software.
Camp Blood 2 is actually even worse than the first movie
but if you're a true slasher fan, you have got to check
these movies out just for having seen them. I mean, you
won't see anything like this ever again. The sound effects
are so bad that you can't help but to laugh at them and
the special effects are even worse! It does have a
certain entertainment value however.
