Camp Forest Green is open for business and six
girls have decided to spend their summer there.
What they don't know is that a serial killer in
a clown costume is roaming around in the woods,
waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill them
off, one by one.

Germany is responsible for many great slasher
flicks such as "The Pool" and "Flashback" so
when I found out that there was a new German
slasher flick out, I just had to check it out.
Unfortunately for me, Camp Corpses didn't turn
out to be quite the hoot that I had hoped for.

This slasher revolves around six girls, who are
in desperate need of acting lessons, camping at
Camp Forest Green (someone's been creative). As
we all know, all camps has a serial killer and
this so called camp (it's basically just a cabin
in the middle of the forest) happens to have a
killer clown. Sure, the concept sounds intriguing
enough but the clown is anything but scary. The
mask is pretty good but unfortunately we don't
get to see the mask very often, we basically just
get to see someone in a big, frumpy clown dress
walk around killing people for most of the time.

I am always appreciative when slasher fans try
to make an old-school slasher flick but these guys
just didn't really seem to know what they were
doing. It doesn't follow the slasher rules at all.
I'll give them some credit for the nice scenery
and decent cinematography but that's about it. The
gore effects were horrible, one of the guys in
the opening scene actually couldn't keep himself
from laughing while getting killed, the editing is
quite bad and there are even times when the contrast
changes in the middle of a scene.

Why film-makers with no budget decide to shoot in
cinemascope is just beyond me, it just makes things
worse. Camp Corpses is basically a very dull
killer clown film with very little to offer. It's
nice to see a masked killer on the screen again
but I'd rather have an entertaining plot than a
masked killer. Don't bother with this one.

The gore effects are horrible but for what it's
worth we get a chainsaw in ones stomach, an
impalement, a hand chopped off and a decapitation.

The rock music is pretty good so it was sad to
see that they didn't utilize that more. Instead
we're stuck with a Halloween-inspired melody
which does nothing but annoy.

Maybe my expectations for this were too high or
maybe it's simply just a terrible movie. Either
way I don't understand how you can go so wrong
with a killer clown and an all-female cast. This
is not something you want to see unless you're a
die-hard killer clown fan.
