Four friends get stuck with their car by a camp called
Camp Hiawatha. They soon notice that the teens at the
camp are a bit strange but what's even stranger is that
someone is killing of the teens one by one. Who's killing
the teens and is there any way to stop the killer?

The team behind Camp Daze wanted to make a slasher that
looks like it's from the 80s and man did they succeed.
Camp Daze feels like a forgotten 80s slasher gem like
The Burning. The story is pretty clever actually, a lot
more complex than my plot description might suggest.
You see, the four friends have actually travelled back
in time and back to the early 80s. Sounds cheesy doesn't
it? Well I don't know how but somehow they managed to
make it close to believable. The story is simply built
up in such a clever way that everything ludicrous and
cheesy about the movie works for the movie's profit.

The movie looks like it was shot by the same type of
camera that was used in the early 80s and the
director really did an amazing job. He managed to
pull off something that so many directors have tried
before, making the movie look like it was from
another year. The acting is also much better than
DTV standards.

But just like every slasher flick, this movie does
have its flaws. The movie is a bit too long and you
get a bit bored towards the end even if there are
always things going on. The body count is high but
that doesn't mean it's necessarily entertaining.
Luckily it's only the final 15 minutes or so that
feel slow. The rest of the movie as I said before,
is a must for any fan of the good old 80s slashers.
Now THIS is what I call an homage!

We get decapitations, impalements, throat slashings
and a whole lot more. Many scenes feel borrowed from
Friday The 13th.

Even the soundtrack sounds like it was made back in
the good old days. Excellent score which suits the
movie perfectly.

I thought I had seen all 80s slashers but here's one
I apparently missed, well kind of anyway. Camp Daze
is indeed from 2005 but feels like it was made back
in the 80s and I definitely recommend this for
anyone who misses slasher movies from that time.
