Carrie White is a complete misfit. Everyone bullies her and
her only friend is her gym teacher. After a cruel prank, one
of the most popular girls in the school feel bad for her and
decide to give her boyfriend a mission, he has to take Carrie
to the prom. But nice thoughts aren't always good.

A remake of an old cult classic, which was only all right, this
has to be good. Those were the words that popped up in my mind
as I put this in my DVD player. I'm not a big fan of the
original Carrie but after seeing this I would have to say that
the original wasn't all that bad. Out of the three Carrie
movies, this was the worst one. It hurts me to see that these
people have no respect for cult classics. They basically
removed all the tension and atmosphere from the original and
replaced it with lowbudget special effects.
Angela Bettis has played the role as an ugly misfit girl in
two horrormovies in one year. Mustn't she feel beautiful.
Anyway, the thing is that she knows what she's doing and she's
doing it well. While Bettis doesn't quite live up to Sissy
Spacek's performance from the original Carrie, she still does
a very good job. I just didn't feel the rage that Sissy showed
on the screen. There's nothing special about the rest of the
cast, we recognize a few faces but the acting is only average.
You can really tell that the movie was made for television
and the directing isn't very good either. I think they spent
all the money on the cheap special effects. This version of
Carrie is a bit longer than the original, you might wonder
how that could be. Well all they did was basically put in
a couple of scenes where a cop interviews the survivors here
and there oh and let's not forget about the terrible ending
which was so untrue to the original. This should have stayed
on satellite TV in my opinion as I don't think it deserves the
DVD treatment that it got. Anyway, it was a bit faster paced
than the original so I have to give it credit for that.

I thought they would have been more graphical on this part
considering the fact that it's a remake, we really don't get
any blood at all.

I think they tried to recreate the original soundtrack as good
as they could but it still doesn't measure up to the original
in my opinion. We also get some piano music, some dance music,
some slow music and some pop music just to show us that it's
a new version.

Unnecessary remake (as are most) which takes out the best from
the original and replaces it with effects and other unnecessary
things. Caution for all fans of the original, I am not a fan of
the original and still I was filled with rage after seeing how
they tore the original to pieces. I advice you to avoid this
and see the original Carrie instead but if you like newer movies
I guess this is an all right movie.
