John is an expert in cave expeditions and is hired
to lead a group of wealthy clients through a cave
in Switzerland. He takes his family with him and
it seems as if this expedition is going to be
something out of the ordinary... especially when
John realizes that the group that he's leading are
thugs who are looking for emeralds in the cave.
What no one expected however, was to run into a
bunch of oversized, flesh-eating beetles.

Cheap sets, poor CGI-effects and an overused story
is just what Caved In is all about. In true Sci-Fi
channel spirit, this cheaply made creature feature
doesn't bring anything new to the table and it
really feels as if we've seen this movie a hundred
times before - only with different creatures.

You can't expect a whole lot more from the Sci-Fi
channel's TV-productions I guess and I have to
be honest with you, this was more entertaining
than many other similar movies that I've seen.
At least the bugs play a big part in this and
we get to see them a lot in action - unlike many
other creature features where we only get to see
the killer creatures in a couple of short frames.

The story has all of the usual clichés - bad people
looking to take advantage of a situation, good
people wanting to survive, and killer creatures
munching on the bad people. Nothing new here and
it's pretty obvious who's going to die and who's
going to survive. The acting is also very average
but at least we get Chelan Simmons, who I have
learnt to respect a whole lot as of recently as
an actress, in here and she's just as good as always.

This movie is only for people who still haven't
gotten sick of the Sci-Fi channels recycled scripts
and cheap special effects. I on the other hand
have had just about enough of them and I'm almost
ready to stop checking their creature features out.
But at least this had some decent gore in it.

We get an impalement, a hand chopped off, some
cheap guts, an arm snapped off, a decapitation,
a guy chopped in half and some more. Surprisingly
gory for a TV-movie.

Recycled scripts - recycled music. We've heard
this too many times before and it was never very
effective from the beginning.

This is pretty much what you can expect from the
Sci-Fi channel. As little plot as possible and
as cheap CGI-effects as possible. Don't expect
nothing from this killer bug flick. Gorier than
most Sci-Fi channel productions but still not
worth checking out.
