Dr.
Samantha Gaines, a professor specializing
in myths, is kidnapped and forced to find Attila’s
sword which is said to make anyone who holds it
invincible. The only problem is that if it is
removed from Attila’s grave, a three headed monster
dog with a serpent as a tail will unleash its
wrath upon the earth. Naturally the beast is
unleashed and all hell breaks lose.

I've learnt what to expect from the Sci-Fi
channels productions and so even if the DVD
sleeve for Cerberus is awesome, I knew that it
wasn't going to be a very good movie - and for
once I was right. Cerberus is a very standard
Sci-Fi channel movie and adds nothing new at all.
On the other hand, we all know by now that
Sci-Fi aren't aiming for originality since all
of their movies have the following ingredients:
*An evil creature.
*Good guys and bad guys.
*Lots of guns.
*An almost all male cast.
*Horrible CGI-effects.
So let's talk about these ingredients in this
movie. First of we have the evil creature - a
three headed monster dog with a serpent for tail.
Now this to me is a very groovy monster but just
like many of Sci-Fi's movies, the CGI effects
completely ruin the credibility of the monster.
It looks horribly cheap and the cast really
struggles to act as if there was a monster there.
Speaking of the cast, Emmanuelle Vaugier has a
starring role in this cheap movie and it seems
as if she's in most any horror movie these days.
I can only hope for her that Saw 2 was shot
after Cerberus and House Of The Dead 2 as those
aren't exactly high-rent horror flicks. I was
expecting more from Emmanuelle here however,
she plays a professor who's specializing in
mythology and still she barely seems impressed
when she enters Attila’s chamber.
Ultimately I wasn't very impressed with Cerberus.
It's not one of the Sci-Fi channel's better
efforts and it's definitely very forgettable.
I've practically forgotten all about it all ready.
If you enjoy the Sci-Fi channel's other horror
movies, give it a go but don't expect a lot.

Most of the gory killings are done by sword
rather than by the beast. The beast bites a head
off, rips ones legs off (in a scene which will
have you laughing for ages due to horrible CGI
effects) and some more. Meanwhile, the sword
causes an arm to get severed, an impalement
and a decapitation.

Nothing worth mentioning, standard stuff.

A very typical Sci-Fi production with no soul
and no heart at all. It is fairly entertaining
however and never gets very slow. Cerberus was
pretty much what I had expected it to be so if
you like Sci-Fi's stuff, maybe you'll like this
one as well.
