A
chainletter is being sent out to the girls at
a high school and if you don't pass it on to
someone really quick you will die a tragic
death. Who started this chain letter and how
can you stop it from being passed on?

When One Missed Call came out I didn't think it
could get less original, but Chain sure proved
me wrong by ripping off a rip-off. The story
revolves around a chain letter which is being
passed on through cell phones and the one who
receives it dies a horrible death. How pathetic
is that? Now, I knew the plot of this movie
before I started watching it but at least I thought
I was going to see a quality rip-off with a nice
high budget, well I was wrong.
Chain is a low-rent, unoriginal clone of most
Japanese horror flicks and the only redeeming
quality about this flick is that it has some
cool, gory moments. However, I'm pretty sure
that the first ten minutes of the movie would
put just about anyone off since all of the
dialogue is through people text messaging each
other with a subtitle showing us what the teens
are writing. Luckily this stops after a while
and we get some real dialogue. Unfortunately,
it's not a whole lot better than the text
messaging. Everything's just so ludicrous and
the actors fail to create any kind of credibility
towards their shallow characters.
I've had quite enough of these cell phone horror
flicks. Chain is incredibly unforgettable and
I have a hard time believing that this will make
it on the international market. There aren't
even any good scares in it to keep the viewer
interested in what's going on. Still, this could
have been worse I guess and some gore scenes are
pretty cool which is why I'm giving it a rating
of 2/5. Don't bother checking this out if you're
sick of the whole cell phone thing in horror
movies though as you will sleep right through this one.

We get a lot of blood splatter, some dismembered
body parts and a face cut off, very gory
for this genre.

Nothing worth mentioning here, standard stuff.

Tired and unoriginal horror flick which once
again uses cell phones to create terror. Sadly,
it fails miserably at that and never becomes
even remotely scary. Avoid this chain letter
unless you're having a hard time sleeping
because this one sure does the trick (despite
the fact that it's only 65 minutes long).
