Strange things
have started occurring at a small
store which is owned by an even stranger couple.
OK Mart is taking over the store and the part-
time workers could not be more excited. The
couple however is a bit more sceptical. But will
OK Mart be able to buy the store before every
customer has died for some strange reason.

What a rip-off! The cover made me believe that
this would be some way expensive horror flick
about evil crows or something. What I got was
a very cheap horror flick shot with what I can
only assume is a DV camera. The plot makes
little to no sense at all and the movie all in
all doesn't really give you anything. What
surprised me was that the sound is crystal
clear DTS and the special effects are killer.
So obviously they spent all of their budget
on the wrong things. Special effects are
nothing without a good looking movie and most
importantly, a solid story that actually leads
somewhere and doesn't just go on and on and on
for what feels like an eternity.
The directing goes from bad to abysmal and it
seems as if this director is very inexperienced.
Speaking of inexperienced people, the actors
have hardly been in any movies, or even TV
commercials before as they feel stiff and
unbelievable. That's actually the word I was
looking for, unbelievable, that's the perfect
word to describe this movie. A psycho couple
owning a store is unbelievable, when did they
even hire their staff anyway and how could
they accept the job after having met the owners?
Crows flying into windows for no apparent
reason sure doesn't make sense either, not
in this case anyway and then we have mummies
with sledgehammers and ghost girls with long
black hair to make this movie even more
ridiculous and unbelievable.
So what did I like about the movie? Well, even
if I didn't really get anything out of watching
it, it still is relatively decent entertainment
for the moment. Sure, if I knew that it was
going to be this bad, I would probably never
have started watching it in the first place but
it's still entertaining enough to keep you from
pressing the fast forward or stop button. There
are tons of better Japanese horror flicks out
there though and you don't need to see this one.

A girl is hit by a truck and some blood splatters.

We get piano music, some relatively funky drum n
bass music and some classical music which feels
very inappropriate for the moment. Come to
think of it, most of the soundtrack feels very
misplaced, there's actually a scene where the
starring girl runs to look for her friend and
heroic music is playing loudly. Very weird.

Cursed was a huge disappointment as the cover
made me believe that I was in for a cool high
budget evil crow movie but instead I got a
very ludicrous movie with a very low budget.
As there are many other great Japanese horror
flicks out there, I suggest you see one of
those instead of this even if it wasn't a
complete waste of time.

Terrible! I thought this movie came across as a kid's version of Ju-on. The only reason I even rate this a 1 is for the truck scene. |
