After
Tarik's strange suicide, his three friends
start investigating what really happened to him.
It almost seems as if someone made him commit
suicide, but what's wrong with his computer? And
who is sending pictures of him from his email?
The three friends are just as clueless as the
police as to what's happening and they soon realize
that these strange suicides are happening all over
the world. Could there be a connection?

I've heard good things and I've heard bad things
about this new Turkish horror movie. Some people
say it's like a script that Asia rejected, some
people say it's a masterpiece. What no one seems
to know is that this is more or less a complete
remake of one of my all-time favourite horror
movies; Kairo (aka Pulse). I'm not saying it's a
rip-off, I'm saying it's a remake since the story
is practically exactly the same as well as most
of the scary scenes. The only difference is that
they've removed all of the atmosphere from the
script and thrown in a couple of horrible actors.
While Kairo focused on creating a creepy atmosphere
(which made me look behind my back every now and
then to see that there was no one there), Dabbe
focuses on flashy special effects, loud noises and
cheap scares. And while I love cheap scares, I just
couldn't get past the fact that they didn't even
give any credit to Kairo, they promoted it as a
brand new movie - no wonder no one knew that this
was a remake.
Had I not know that this was a remake however,
I would probably have enjoyed it a whole lot more.
But when it comes to remakes, you can't help but
compare them to the original - and this movie
never even comes near to being as brilliant as
Kairo. Hasan Karacadag has written and directed
this movie and I think that it's very cowardly
of him to market this as his own movie even though
I can understand that he wanted to start his
directorial career with a bang.
Unfortunately, Hasan Karacadag doesn't really seem
to know what he's doing for most of the time. The
entire movie is shot in a very yellowish tone,
almost sepia, and that really didn't work to this
movies advantage. Only horror movies that take
place in the mountains can take advantage of yellow
colours, in Dabbe it just feels wrong.
I'm sure this is nothing like what the American
remake of Kairo will be like and Dabbe is pretty
entertaining if you can overcome the fact that
its a poor copy of a great movie. For those who
still haven't seen Kairo, I recommend that you see
that one before you see Dabbe because it's a whole
lot better. Dabbe is not a bad movie, it's just
very weak in comparison to the original.

We only get a knife through ones head and that's
still too much for a movie like this.

The movie relies on loud sound effects and a
constant humming in the background. Very effective
in the beginning but after 2 hours it kind of
gets annoying.

Dabbe isn’t a bad movie but its a very weak remake
of one of the best films I've ever seen - Kairo.
Probably better than the US remake will be but
I still recommend that you see the original before
you see this one. This is much more amateurish
and much less creepy.
