A man has a premonition of his daughters being killed
in a cornfield and heads out to look for them. Soon
he finds himself lost in a maze with evil spirits
surrounding him. Will he be able to find his daughters
and will they find their way out of the maze?

Some time ago, Lions Gate bought the rights to a low
budget independent horror flick called "The Maize:
The Movie" and since their abysmal DTV horror flick
"Dark Harvest" was a huge success, the natural thing
for them to do was to market this one as a sequel,
even though it has nothing in common with Dark Harvest,
except for the fact that they both take place in a
corn field that is. Well, seeing as how abysmal Dark
Harvest was, I doubt that they'll sell more than ten
copies of this terrible horror flick, and if you were
planning on seeing it, let me describe the ridiculous
plot for you in hope of changing your mind.
While Dark Harvest was a slasher flick, The Maize is
more of a supernatural horror flick and for some
reason, they've tried to copy The Shining, naturally
they were very unsuccessful. The movie starts out
with a man who's getting ready to watch a movie when
suddenly he starts getting visions of their girls
dying (Final Destination anyone?). It's Halloween and
the most popular attraction around is the corn maze
for some reason, it beats me why people would actually
want to pay money to go around in a stupid corn maze.
Anyway, the man goes looking for his daughters in the
corn field and that's basically all that this movie
is about after that. He just runs around looking for
his girls for about an hour and a half - I've seen
porno’s with more plot than this.
Still not convinced that you shouldn't rent or buy this
flick? Well, if you can overlook the thin plot, I doubt
you'll be able to overlook the awful directing and
editing, not to speak about acting in the movie. The
movie looks like it was directed by a ten year-old
since the camera moves fast and sloppy. And you have
just got to love it when they show you three angles
of a scene every now and then - it's not made in the
Hollywood style, they've actually just pasted smaller
frames of the movie onto the screen.
Just when you thought that Lions Gate couldn't sink
any further with their DTV horror releases, Dark
Harvest 2: The Maize appears in our video stores.
Well, even if you liked the first movie, I doubt
that you will like Dark Harvest 2 as it has nothing
in common, plot-wise, with the first movie since it's
not even an official sequel. The scarecrow on the
DVD cover is just there to lure people into buying
it even though there's not a scarecrow in sight.

Nothing worth mentioning.

Barely any music at all, I don't know if this is a good
or a bad thing though.

If you thought Dark Harvest was bad - BEHOLD! the
unofficial sequel, Dark Harvest 2: The Maize. Imagine
a corny mix of Final Destination, The Shining and
every single bad DTV horror flick you've ever seen
and you end up with this flick, plus, it actually is
corny since it takes place in a cornfield.
