Five kids
who are on a school trip decide to take a
walk in the woods. Just when they're about to return
to the hotel, it starts to rain. They seek shelter
inside a big old house where they meet an old lady
who lives there. One of the kids claims that he
never gets scared, so the old lady decides to tell
them six terrifying ghost stories. What they don't
know is that the most terrifying story of them all
is occurring right beneath them.

Oh joy, a sequel to the atrocious Indian horror
anthology "Darna Mana Hai". I really didn't even
plan to see this but a friend of mine who's from
India really wanted to see it - and to my surprise
this actually turned out to be MUCH better than
its predecessor. This is actually creepy enough to
be called a horror movie, while I thought Darna Mana
Hai was more like a really dull version of Goosebumps.
It's got some relatively entertaining stories and
even though it's almost two hours long, the movie
went by pretty quickly.
Just like I did with its predecessor, I'm going to
review the stories separately. And just like in
its predecessor, it's really seven stories rather
than six - if you include the opening scene that is,
so let's begin with that one.
The movie opens with a fat guy who decides to take
a short cut through the cemetery to the theatre
since he's going to see Darna Mana Hai. Everything
goes well until it's time to go back home. This
opening scene really put me off since it was pretty
much the same kind of silly story that consumed the
first movie. Fortunately for me, things got much
better once the actual movie started.
As I wrote in my plot description, a couple of kids
seek shelter in a big house in the middle of the
woods when it starts to rain. An old lady who lives
in the house decides to tell them six ghost stories
(we only get to hear five though since the sixth
one is the one going on in the house). The first of
story takes place in a professor's house. A student
of his is visiting since they have to go through
some research together, but they don't get to work
a lot since the professor claims that there's a man
in the house. The student starts to freak out but
suspects that the professor has completely lost it.
Naturally, this is not the case. This was a pretty
good story with some great scares and even if it
wasn't very original, it was still entertaining
enough. The ending wasn't really a big surprise but
that didn't bother me too much.
The second story revolves around a man whose car
has broken down. He asks a couple who lives nearby
for help, but their main interest seems to be to
scare people. This really was a very entertaining
story and I did not see the twist ending coming
(twist endings is what this anthology is all about).
Unfortunately, the third story wasn't quite as
enjoyable. This one revolves around a psychotic
salesman and that's really all that I can say about
this plot as there isn't much more to be said. It's
not particularly scary, nor is it entertaining. This
is one chapter on the DVD that you might want to skip.
Luckily, the fourth story picked up the pace again
and revolved around a director who wants to direct
a horror movie. On his way home he picks up a girl
who at first seems like a sweet-heart, but soon
starts acting strange. Could she be a ghost? Even
though this wasn't the best story in this movie,
this is where my interest peeked. It had an engaging
plot and you kept asking yourself; is she a ghost
or not? And once again, the ending was great.
The final story was about a man who wakes up in a
prison, only to find out that he has killed a man.
This story was obviously inspired by The Exorcist
and it was all a bit too unoriginal for me. Creepy
enough, but not really the best way to end the movie.
Ultimately, I enjoyed this anthology though. It's
much better than its predecessor and it's obvious
that Bollywood is improving in the horror genre.
Even though I'm a bit sick of ghost stories by now,
I still recommend this to Bollywood fans. It's not
a The Grudge rip-off and I am very thankful for that.

No, nothing.

The main theme was a "creepy" version of twinkle,
twinkle little star which didn't really do it for
me. Overall, the soundtrack was all right but
definitely nothing special.

This was much better than its predecessor so if you've
seen Darna Mana Hai, try to keep an open mind. There
is no connection between the two movies, they're
anthologies so how could there be right? If you enjoy
Bollywood horror flicks, I can most definitely
recommend this movie. Some of the stories are bad
and some are pretty good, but overall, it's a pretty
decent anthology. Makes two hours go by pretty fast.
