Ana wakes up one day to a completely changed town.
Her neighbours that used to go on roller blades and
garden their plants are now occupied with running
around, eating anyone that they can get their hands
on. Ana and a couple of survivors manage to take
refugee in a mall but for how long will the walls
and glasses keep the zombies outside... they're
just about to find out.

So here's a surprise for you, I thought it would be
better. I'm ashamed to confess that I've never seen
the original Dawn Of The Dead, I have it on DVD but
I also have yet to see it so for now it's just
collecting dust in my shelf. So since I haven't
seen the original, I didn't really know what to
expect. All I knew was that the remake was supposed
to be excellent. Well, it was a really good movie,
I'll give it that much credit for I know a good
movie when I see one. But the thing is, there's no
plot in it. It's just a bunch of zombies running
around trying to eat people, I mean, pardon me for
saying so but it takes no genius to come up with
a story this basic.

The directing from Zack Snyder is very slick and
feels very unique for the movie. He uses simple but
impressive angles and scene transfers that help to
lift the movie up a notch. It was also nice to see
Kevin Zegers and Lindy Booth back together in a
horrormovie after the smash hit Wrong Turn. Both
are excellent actors in my opinion and they're also
doing a great job here along with the rest of the
cast. Sarah Polley was a great choice for the lead
aswell, though I think that she could have had some
more on screen time since you didn't get to root
for her and having someone to root for is quite
important for me to be able to enjoy a movie.

Don't get me wrong now, Dawn Of The Dead is really
a good movie, I just thought that it would be a
little bit better. I think this is about as good
as 28 Days Later which is also a very good flick
and still 28 Days Later has a lot more of a plot
than this does so they have to had done something
right here. Dawn Of The Dead is surprisingly
enough most action packed in the beginning, just
to catch ones interest I guess. Still I wish that
there would've been some more action and some
more and better scares or chasing scenes. very
good movie but could've been better, I guess I'll
just have to check out the original some day soon.

Buckets of blood and blown apart heads, there are
no complaints here. We get some cool gory chainsaw
action with leg severing and gory shoulder splittings.
We also get a cool stick through the head impalement
aswell. Most of the gore is shown pretty hasty though
but it's all there. A must for gorehounds no doubt.

Creepy sound effects and fake scares seems to be the
concept of the score in this one. Very little music
except for the regular background action score which
sounds very unoriginal.

Really good horrormovie but with a lack of plot. It's
just a movie about zombies wanting to eat people, not
very complex. I thought it would be a bit better so
I'm somewhat disappointed. If you watch it without
expecting an excellent movie, you probably will find
it excellent but if you go in thinking that it will be
the horrormovie of the century, you will find yourself
a bit disappointed.
