A crazy redneck
family spend their time slaughtering
anyone who comes close to their cabin. Now, three
friends are going camping for the weekend, but they
soon find themselves kidnapped and tortured by two
of the family members. Will anyone get out alive?

Day of The Ax is like the no-budget version of the
Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake that no one wanted.
I hated this film so I'm going to keep it short
because there's really not a whole lot to say about
this movie. A hillbilly family kills teens at random
with a psychotic masked man as the main killer (Texas
flashback number one). To make the movie longer (it's
just barely an hour long), the movie's foddered with
scenes of people talking about the accident. These
scenes are in black and white and are supposed to
look like old footage (Texas chainsaw flashback number
two) - but to me it just like someone is using
Windows Movie Maker for the first time and is enjoying
all the "cool" special effects that comes with the
software (when I say "cool", I mean cheap).
After a bunch of random people have been killed we're
introduced to the three stars of the movie - a fat
pot-smoker and two girls with no personalities at all.
While driving to a camp they almost run over a girl
who's covered in blood, she claims that someone is
out to get her and that she doesn't want to go to a
hospital before she kills herself (Texas flashback
number three). Not long after that, the three friends
get kidnapped by two maniacal brothers (one of which
is the main killer with a potato sack over his head).
From there on, it's all a boring blur to me. Staying
interested in the plot was just impossible.
What amused me about the movie was that everyone was
constantly talking about an axe massacre and that the
killer used an axe to kill everyone, while as really
he mainly used a sledgehammer to beat his victims to
death with. The axe didn't appear until the third
act of the movie, and even then the killer didn't
really use it much. So what about the other killer
brother then? Well, he's not much to look at. He's
dressed as a hippie with sunglasses and is seemingly
friendly and a bit loony. Not intimidating at all.
I've all ready started to erase the memory of having
watched this movie so I won't bother writing a long
review for it - it doesn't deserve it. I don't know
how the people behind this film could've possibly
thought that they were making a good movie. It's
like they didn't even try. Whether you're on a low
budget or not, there's no excuse for a horrible plot.
I'm sorry to say this but I doubt I will ever be
watching a movie from 4th Floor Pictures ever again.
I sat through half of "Dead Body Man" and that movie
was just beyond atrocious and I don't feel like wasting
any more energy or time with these terrible films.

A bashed in head, some skin peeled off, some fake
blood. Nothing special, awful gore effects.

At first it was competent enough with a Halloween
inspired theme melody, but as the movie progressed
we got cheap metal music and a horrible suspense
score to go with it.

It doesn't get much worse than this people. Day Of
The Ax had some potential in the beginning with a
watchable opening scene and a pretty decent killer.
But as the movie progressed, I quickly realized that
this wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Well, maybe
it was, but no one could ever take it seriously.
To me this is just a very bad joke, and I'm not laughing.
