Four
girls, with very differing personalities, become
roommates in an institute where they'll be studying
for their collage entrance exam over the next couple
of weeks. They all find it difficult to adapt to the
severe rules, and it doesn't help that their principal
is a cold-hearted bitch. Yoo-jin however is the one
having the hardest time adjusting to the environment
and it seems as if all the teachers are out to get
her. What's even worse is that she's having horrible
visions of what once happened at the school...

D-day, or Roommates as it's also called, is the least
inventive out of the "4 Horror Tales"-movies in my
opinion. With a plot that feels all too familiar,
D-day really disappears from your memory as soon as
you've finished watching it. The movie revolves around
four girls who are randomly selected to become roommates
in a very disciplined school. All of the girls are
having a hard time to adapt, and one of them even
starts seeing ghosts. But don't worry, it's not really
as exciting as it sounds.
The movie quickly decides to head down the drama
path and tries really hard to build up a solid and
gripping story. To a certain extent it works, the
story is intriguing enough to keep you fairly interested
and entertained, but it still has some serious pacing
problems - mainly due to the fact that we never really
got to know any of the girls who we were supposed to
be rooting for (except for the annoying girl with the
glasses). When the horror part of the movie finally
does begin though, it goes exactly where you
expected it to go and doesn't even try to be original.
The movie does look amazing though with nice colours
and at the end of the day, D-day isn't a bad movie. It
won't win any prizes for originality but it's still a
fairly entertaining ride for most of the time. If it
would have had more suspense and scares in it, I'm sure
that I would have liked it better (I was actually
surprised to see that there were only one or two real
jump scenes in it). But if you enjoy Asian
horror-drama's, it might be worth checking out.

Nothing special here, some bloody corpses.

The theme melody sounds a lot like a ring tone - but
I guess that's the way things are going these days.
I don't know, the score just didn't do it for me.

A mildly entertaining, but very unoriginal, horror
flick which will be out of your memory before you know
it. It's decent for a rainy Tuesday night but nothing
more than that. It's too much like everything else
we've seen from Asia and therefore becomes
very forgettable.
