A couple of friends are going to a wedding but when they
realize that they're completely lost they have to spend the
night at a small bed and breakfast in a small village called
Lovelock. When one of the friends gets up in the middle of
the night to get something to eat he's in for a surprise.
The two b&b owners have died, one of a heart attack and the
other of a knife in his throat. Since the sheriff wants the
kids to stick around for a while they will miss the wedding,
and as if that wasn't depressing enough, it seems as if the
locals are turning into vicious killer zombies.

Dead and Breakfast is the typical horror movie that comes out
of nowhere and surprises the hell out of you. I've read some
mixed reviews of it on the net and I never really understood
what the movie was about. Well just like Undead and Shaun
Of The Dead this manages to blend comedy and gory zombie
film together in a way that succeeds in both scaring its
audience and making it laugh. The movie gets a bit slow at
parts but just when we're about to get sick of the concept
something new happens which catches our interest again.
For being a, what I can only suspect, DTV horror movie, it
sure has a good cast in it. I mean, not one of these actors
seem off in their parts and just look at the names! This
movie is packed with big names like David Carradine, Erik
Palladino, Jeremy Sisto, Gina Philips and Oz Perkins who
some of us might recognize from the cute teen comedy
"Legally Blonde". Matthew Leutwyler is still a fairly
unknown director in the movie business but I do think
that we will see more of him in the future as this movie
is very well directed. With a low budget he's managed
to create some very intense moments.
So what can you expect from a movie with such a cheesy title
as Dead and Breakfast? Well, don't expect the movie of the
century for it is not. Expect an entertaining horror comedy
with a lot of brains, really, expect a LOT of brains. D&B
is one of the goriest zombie movies I have ever seen and
the special effects are really good. And as if gore and
comedy wasn't good enough, we also get hillbilly musical
numbers every now and then. I don't know about you but that
was just the cherry on the top for me.

How do you kill something that's already dead? By removing
their heads ofcourse! It's impossible to count all the
decapitations in this movie but my favourite one is when
a guy gets decapitated by an axe. A guy gets a knife in
the throat as well and we also get to see some hammer in
hand action. I can't even begin to tell you all the graphic
gore that's in this movie so I'll just let you see it for
yourselves, believe me, it's worth it!

The soundtrack is rather good filled with some hillbilly
country music, some rock music and ofcourse the brilliant
musical numbers.

It's funny how you always have a lot more comments on the
movies that you hate than the movies that you really like.
Dead and Breakfast is by all means not a deep movie, we
never even get to root for the characters and you know why?
Because we don't have to. The movie survives without
having to have a lot of different characters. If you get
the chance you have got to see this flick, a must for any
Shaun Of The Dead or Undead fan.
