After a series of recent murders, Sheriff Dan Gillis starts to
suspect that there's something more to it than what reaches the
eye. What he doesn't know is that there isn't just one serial
killer on the loose in Potter's Bluff, there are numerous and
they all work together... and as if that wasn't enough, none of
the victims seem to remain dead for very long...

The movie that was banned and censored and cut in many countries
had finally been released uncut on DVD with a DTS 6.1 track so
I decided to grab a copy of this cult classic before it went
out of print. Dead & Buried opens up with a photographer shooting
some pictures on a beach but moments later he's tied with fish
net to a pole in the ground with a mob taking pictures of him
and poring petrol on him. With a kick ass opening like this you
just know that you have a good time in front of you.
Approximately 30 minutes later you have predicted the rest of
the movie without even trying.
Robert Englund makes a small appearance in this movie and he
actually didn't need to have a bigger role in this movie since
the rest of the cast do their job pretty well. These are all
experienced actors and they know what they're doing. Gary
Sherman does an outstanding job on the directing aswell and
there are some scenes that will stick with me until the day
I die and get reanimated. There are also a few scenes which
will make you jump high in your seat.
Despite the fact that both the directing and acting are close
to flawless, the story just isn't strong enough. I think it's
safe to say that this could have been so bad if they hadn't
hired the right cast and crew for this movie. Anyway, I think
it turned out all right and it was well worth the money. Though
I did feel as if they could have used a better twist in the
end as that was just what you had predicted 50 minutes ago.
Stupid to cut or censor this movie though, there was practically
no gore at all in here and it might aswell be rated PG-13 in
my opinion. It did live up to my expectations though, all in
all that is.

There's a lot of violence and a fair amount of blood splatter
but it isn't exactly gory. There's a terrible scene where one
gets the face melted and it's so obvious that it's a doll/robot
and not a real person. Other than that we get a quite cool
eye piercing with a needle and a dismembered arm.

I do love the main theme in here, I'm a real sucker for piano
music and this had one of the best piano scores ever in a
horrormovie. We also get some 40's music but I don't really
know what that music classifies as.

Dead & Buried is an eerie and suspenseful horrormovie which
sticks out from the rest of the zombie movies as it isn't
packed with ugly, rotten zombies but with good-looking zombies,
now that's not something that you see everyday. I personally
thought the story was a bit weak and predictable but other
than that it's a pretty good movie.
