A family and the daughter’s boyfriend are on their way
to spend Christmas with the grandparents but Frank,
the dad, is sick of the regular road so he decides to
take a back road. Everything's going just fine until
they decide to pick up a woman who's in chock, holding
her baby in her arms. Looking for help might be a good
thing to do but in this case it was a bad idea. Really
bad. Now, someone in a black car seems to be after them,
wanting to kill them, and the road seems to have no end.

I've heard both very positive and very negative reviews
about this film and honestly I didn't think the trailer
looked very promising like everyone else did so my
expectations weren't really that high. Well my first
impression of the movie was "Hey! This doesn't look
as low budget as I thought it would". 20 minutes later
I was squealing like a pig. This has lots of unexpected
scares and jumps which I think that many new horrorfilms
have lacked of. I had also heard that the movie would
be very much like Identity and Wrong Turn, well it's
not, it's nothing like them at all in fact. This was
just a very unique movie. I'm still so psyched after
seeing this, I'm telling you this was SCARY AS HELL!.
My first positive reaction about this movie came when
I realised that Alexandra Holden was in this movie.
Then I knew that it wouldn't be all that bad, I've
always admired her going from having a small part in
some episodes of Friends to high budget movies. She
must've liked starring in a horrormovie since this is
the second one she does in two years time, Wishcraft
being the other one. The rest of the cast is also
pretty well known, we have Ray Wise from horrormovies
like Jeepers Creepers 2 and Swamp Thing. We have Lin
Shaye from big movies like There's Something About
Mary and 2001 Maniacs. Naturally these were all
strong actors and managed to characterize their
characters excellently. I have no negative thoughts
of the acting at all, it was simply outstanding.
Dead End is directed by two rookie directors but they
sure knew what they were doing. The directing is so
simple but so creative that it almost feels real. This
movie also won points by having almost no special
effects, just pure horror. This movie doesn't need
anything eye-catching, the story is so fascinating
anyway that you just can't stop watching it. I am
mighty impressed with this movie.

This was not very gory, we get to see ones brain,
a quite gory arm sticking up in front of the
camera and one gets the lip bit off. But most of
the gore is off screen.

Dead End's score is no exception, this was also
very impressive. This score mainly consists of
rock music which always work in horrormovies. But
we also get some eerie violin music and some drums.

Here's a movie that deserves Black Christmas tagline;
If this doesn't make your skin crawl... it's on too
tight. Dead End is simply a masterpiece of horror,
don't listen to the bad reviews, I have no idea how
true horrorfans can hate this. Watch this movie and
I can almost guarantee you that you won't regret it.
