After
being bitten by a scorpion, Lt. Bobby Quinn wakes
up at the morgue - with no pulse. It turns out that
while his body rejected the scorpion, it has turned
the rest of his crew into a gang of flesh-eating zombies.
Together with two newfound friends they decide to
stop this reign of terror before it spreads, but it's
not easy when they also have to battle against evil
doctors and narrow-minded officers.

Dean Cain returns as a different kind of superman in
this low-rent zombie flick. He's still got his super
strength, the only difference is that in this one, he's
also dead and has man-boobs. Dead & Deader is a generic
zombie flick from the writer/producer of movies like
"All Souls Day", "House Of The Dead" and "House Of
The Dead 2: Dead Aim" - so no one will be surprised
when I say that the result was mediocre at best.
The story revolves around Lt. Bobby Quin (Dean Cain),
who has just returned from a mission in a body bag. He
wakes up at the morgue and quickly realizes that he's
got a scorpion crawling around inside of him, trying
to turn him into a zombie. Luckily he manages to
remove it from his body, but his fellow officers weren't
as lucky. Together with a chef and a female bartender,
he has to try to stop this infection before it's too
late - and while this was fairly amusing at first, it
eventually started dragging.
Personally I think that the zombie genre has been milked
dry, there's very little left to contribute to the
declining genre, and Mark A. Altman doesn't even seem
to try to bring something new to the table. Just like
with most of the Sci-Fi channels productions, the
dialogues are very standard and the conversation about
the Dawn Of The Dead remake felt like a poor attempt
to ass-kiss the horror buffs into liking this movie
better. The movie is naturally also filled with a bunch
of plot holes and it never solves Bobby's problem, which
annoyed the hell out of me.
Dead & Deader is ultimately a very mediocre zombie flick,
as expected. It's definitely watchable but never goes
beyond that (which is a shame really because the acting
wasn't half bad). An effortless zombie flick made with
only one purpose - fill air time. Only for hardcore
zombie fans - something which I am not.

We get an arm cut open, fingers bit off, a couple of
green decapitations, dismembered body parts
and some more.

As usual for Sci-Fi productions, this felt old and
recycled - we've heard it before.

Watchable zombie flick which doesn't have an original
bone in it to brag out. We've seen it hundreds of times
before and it's sad to see such great talents go to
waste. If you're a hardcore zombie fan, you might
enjoy it to some extent, but don't expect it to be
a memorable ride.
