Two campers discover a meteorite which contains
flesh eating monsters. Naturally the two campers
die discovering it. The monsters head for a house
nearby where they start munching on the family
living there. Is there any way to stop these
horrible creatures of outer space or are they
all doomed?

It's the attack of the monster penises! At least
that's what this looks like. I can not believe
that they tried to sell this as a sequel to the
70's hit flick Aliens but if you watch the trailer,
it's pretty obvious that that's what they tried
to do when this was released back in the 80s.
Anyhow, the story begins with two campers who
discover a meteorite full of monsters. Really
cheesy opening scene and would you believe that
the rest of the movie takes place in one house.
It's just about a family and their friends getting
eaten by the monsters in their own house. I am
not kidding people.

The so called special edition released by Synapse
Films wasn't anything special at all. I'm sure
this would've been more enjoyable if the movie
was in better shape but lets face it, it looked
like a used VHS tape and the sound was beyond
abysmal so commenting on the acting would be
hard as you could barely hear what they said
some of the time. The directing looks bad. Very
basic stuff. However, I have to admit that I was
impressed by the creatures as they looked pretty
real for a low budget flick like this.

The movie is just filled with terrible plot holes
and subplots that simply doesn't lead anywhere
and seem to be there solely to make the running
time of the movie longer. For example there's a
subplot where some old women eat dinner and get
attacked by these aliens. Why was that there?
And how come no one seemed to bother killing
them at the end of the movie? The entire movie
just felt like a big dumb plot hole. It was
still pretty entertaining to see giant penis-
looking creatures eat people though. But in the
end this was not a good flick, just a pretty
funny one, though probably not intentionally.

We get a gory face munching scene, a dismembered
hand, a dismembered finger, a dismembered arm,
a dismembered... yeah, I think you get the idea,
it was well gory enough.

Wow! This was amazingly tacky! It was a long time
since I heard a soundtrack this cheap and tacky.
A lot of cheesy synth music and a lot of the
basic no budget 80s alien music. Really bad.

While not a total waste of time, The Deadly Spawn
is still a pretty bad Alien rip-off with little
story and many plot holes. I think I'd stay away
from this if I'd had heard about it before I
started watching it.
