Six friends decide to take a vacation in a small
village in the country (well, jungle) to get away
from the big city for a while. What they don't
know is that a witch put a curse on this small
village many years ago and the six friends soon
find themselves running from a bunch of evil
spiders, is there any way to break this
horrible spider curse?

When is Thailand going to stop making atrocious
creature features like this? And more importantly,
when am I going to stop watching them? Death Web
is the latest DTV creature feature from the
country that either makes kick ass horror flicks
or awful ones like this. This time, a bunch of
teens run into a spider chick in a small Thai
jungle village. What I mean by spider chick is
that there's a girl going around creating evil
spiders, apparently this girl exists through a
curse that was put upon the village many years ago.

As you can hear, the story is completely ridiculous
and since it's a low budget DTV movie, the special
effects are just about as bad as they get. I'm
not talking Spiders 2 bad, I'm talking Creepies 2
bad. The acting is a mixed bag and surprisingly
enough you actually root for a couple of these
shallow characters. The directing is also way
above Thai DTV standards so that was definitely
a positive surprise. Sadly, a good director and
decent actors didn't manage to save this movie,
the script was just too awful to begin with.

There sure were many things to dislike about Death
Web but I think the thing that bothered me the
most was all the dream within a dream sequences,
they really do get frustrating after a while.
I knew that Death Web was going to be bad even
before I had started watching it, and I was right
about this one but I have to say, this movie did
have a whole lot more going for it than most
Thai DTV horror movies that I've seen so if you
enjoy Thai creature features, it might be worth
checking out just for the heck of it.

Nope.

The score is actually pretty good with some nice
Thai pop music and some rhythmic and powerful drums.
Sure, the suspense score could have been better.

Horribly cheap CG-effects and the atrocious story
aside, Death Web does have more than one would
expect going for it. This is still an awful movie
but since I all ready knew that before I started
watching it, it was fun to notice all the positive
things about it. This movie should only be
watched in boredom emergencies.
