A couple of orphans commit suicide (by assistance) inside
a circle. Apparently, this will open the gateway to hell.
Some time later, a couple of campers accidentally stumble
into this circle and become demons. Now it's up to four
people to save the world from these ugly demons before
they manage to get their hands on an evil book.

You have no idea how difficult it was to describe the
plot of this movie since the story really just revolves
around a couple of people running around getting chased
by evil demons for an hour and a half. And shockingly,
this actually isn't even close to as interesting as it
may sound. Desperate Souls shows bad script writers
that there are actually hope for them to get their
movie made - even if it does become a low budget feature.
The movie starts out with some potential but we quickly
realize that what we've seen in the first 10 minutes is
basically what we are going to be seeing in the entire
flick. It does have some neat special effects and the
make up is pretty good but other than that, there's not
a whole lot of positive things to say about this DTV
feature. The acting is awful and the characters are
highly unlikeable even though they desperately try to
make us root for them. The directing is just as bad
and even if some scenes are shot nicely, most of the
directing is absolutely dreadful.
Since there is nothing interesting about the movie,
I kind of just started to think of all the plot holes
in the movie. I mean, the entire plot really is one
big plot hole since we never really get to know why
the orphans wanted to form an evil circle in the first
place. I guess they were just pissed at their parents
or something? And since when did demons become aware
of their appearance? Styling their hair and such? It
just isn't that frightening.
Overall, Desperate Souls hasn't got a whole lot to offer,
but I'll have to admit that it does have some good
scenes and the special effects are pretty decent. That's
still no reason for checking this movie out though so
I suggest you stay away from this cheap DTV feature.
Oh and by the way, the twist ending - not so twisted!

We get some fake looking blood splatter, a pole through
ones hand, and a hole in ones chest. Nothing special.

I don't know why low budget features insist on having a
death metal score, especially not when the death metal
music sounds like it was made from a band which still
plays in their parents garage.

Uninteresting demon flick with a plot which doesn't
exactly bring horror movies to a new level. Some decent
special effects though but with a worthless, yes it was
really worthless, story and terrible acting and directing,
this is nothing that you will want to see any time soon.
Forgettable, dull and not a whole lot more.
