A bunch of
random people passing through the Nevada
desert get arrested by a brutal cop and taken to a
small town called Desperation. He kills some of
them and locks the remaining ones in small cells.
They eventually manage to escape, only to realize
that everyone else in the town is dead. What's going
on here and why is this cop doing this to them?

"God is love" was the line which wrapped this movie
up and let me tell you, I have great respect for
Stephen King, but this movie just pissed me off!
This is a two-hour long horror movie made for
ridiculously christian people. And while I respect
others beliefs, I think that this would be too much
even for the pope to swallow.
Remember the good old days when Stephen King wrote
horrifying stories about possessed girls, psychotic
nurses and demonic clowns? Well those days are over
and it seems as if the master himself has run out
of ideas. Just like in Dreamcatcher, this movie
borrows more than enough from King's previous stories.
The setup feels way too similar to the one in "The
Stand" and once again we have flashbacks which make
you think of "Stand By Me". And as if that wasn't
enough, a little boy has special powers, just like
Carrie did. Only this time, it's not an evil power.
No, this boy can actually speak to god.
The story is just too ludicrous to be entertaining
and while I understand why it's such a long movie,
I still felt like they could have made it shorter
and tighter as there were many really dull moments
and unnecessary dialogues in the movie. Speaking of
dialogues, while the acting is decent, we never get
to really know any of the characters and in the end,
I couldn't care less about who died and who survived.
While there were many scenes which had the potential
to be truly suspenseful in this movie, I wasn't
even remotely scared at any point. And to be quite
honest, even if this had been filled with cheap
scares, I still would have hated it. This was by far
the worst Stephen King movie I've seen to date and
I really hope that he takes a break for a while to
get his act together. Perhaps entertaining for
religious people but I'm a huge King fan and even
I can't recommend this.

A nice surprise was the amount of gore. We get pens
in ones eyes, an arm ripped off, lots of dead bodies
and more. Good gore for a TV-movie.

Once again the wind has managed to get the most
attention from the soundtrack department. The piano
music is decent but as I said, I wasn't even remotely
scared at any point throughout this movie.

It's a shame to see how such a great author can come
up with such a horrible story. It's an unoriginal,
cheesy horror flick which has an annoying religious
theme which gets tired after 5 minutes. Don't bother
with this one unless you think that it's a sin to
have sex before marriage.
