Five students break into an abandoned building
after getting thrown out of their apartment
complex. What they don't know is that the
building is haunted and that this is the last
place that they should hold a séance.

Well this was almost on par with The Blair Witch
Project wasn't it? (Don't you dare quote me on
that, it's not a compliment). This movie was
so scary in the way that it made me realize just
how many crappy DTV horror flicks that I've had
to sit through over the last couple of years.
I sat down together with a friend to watch it
and the title pops up with a cheap font "The
Devil's Curse" and I go; "See how the title
doesn't fit in with the rest of the credits?
It's obvious that Lions Gate renamed this to
make it more marketable. I bet you this is one
of those stupid teen séance movies that doesn't
go anywhere". I was right on the money.

The Devil's Curse, or "Credo" as it was originally
called, is a British horror film about a group
of students who hold a séance in an abandoned
building (though there are nice mattresses and
pillows on the beds and not only is there running
water, but there's actually warm water). Anyway,
this turns out to be a bad idea as the kids
soon start turning up dead one after the other.
Can you say generic? The worst part is that this
actually looks pretty expensive, had it been
good it may have actually received a limited
theatrical run in the UK (though I highly doubt
this is going to happen since it's such a waste
of time that it probably hasn't even found a
distributor in its home country yet).

Other than the camera itself, everything else
feels rather cheap though. The acting is below
average, the script is thinner than water and
there isn't a single suspenseful or scary moment
to be found throughout the entire movie. It is
just such a drag that you would not believe it.
It's predictable to the point that it's not even
funny and it's not at all interesting or
entertaining. I'm not even sure why I'm giving
this a rating of 1/5 since I was bored to my
bones while watching this flick. I guess my friend
was as well as he fell asleep after 30 minutes.

The Devil's Curse may look better than many of
Lions Gate's DTV releases but it's still not
much better. It's extremely slow-paced and the
ridiculous ending only makes it all so much worse.
This is one horror flick you can gladly leave
on the shelf in the video store.

Some minor blood.

Cheap techno music, subtle noises, same old.

What a drag. I'm not even sure what to write
here since I'm even bored from writing the review
for this dreadful movie. I guess it has some
redeeming qualities but I can't quite seem to
be able to pinpoint them. Anyway, don't bother.
