A bus headed for Vegas gets an unpleasant passenger,
and while everyone suspects that he's bad news, they
have no idea just how bad they are as an evil spirit
has taken over his body. What's worse is that at
every bus stop, the spirit goes from one body to the
next, travelling through the passengers like a
plague, leaving their bodies dead when its done
with it. Will they figure out the pattern before
it's too late, and will this bus ever reach Vegas?

This is such a shame really. What we have here is
a brilliant plot gone completely to waste. I've
never been much of a fan of the spirit going from
body to body concept but I thought that this one
could actually pull it off quite nicely. Man was
I ever so wrong. The Devil's Highway starts out
promisingly and despite the fact that we never get
to see the dead bodies, it still seemed as if this
was going to be a good, if not great movie.

Unfortunately, after a while the movie started
getting really confusing and I started to loose
track of who was left on the bus, and it only went
downhill from there. Soon enough, nothing made
sense anymore and the focus that was put on the
interesting and diverse characters in the first
half of the movie, moved onto... well, god knows
what really. The final 40 minutes was a blur of
bad editing, too many fade-outs and countless
plot holes. Don't you just hate it when a great
plot is destroyed like that?

I can't explain what the final half of the movie
tried to accomplish but the first half revolved
around a busload of random people who were all
headed for Vegas for various reasons. They all
have very differing personalities which made me
interested in most of them. Naturally there's a
bad guy on the bus, only the bad guy changes from
bus stop to bus stop as it's an evil spirit
travelling through the passengers (now how great
of a plot is that?!). One of the passengers can
sense that something is wrong and I think we were
all rooting for her to find out the truth, but just
like with everything else - they threw that subplot
completely away in the final half of the movie.

It's late and I'm tired so I'm just going to say
it like it is; Devil's Highway is overall a nonsense
movie and there's no reason for checking it out.
Sure, the first half hour was very promising but
since they completely threw that away in second
half of the movie, I don't see why that should
make anyone watch this movie. Don't bother.

Nothing.

Competent enough but nothing special.

First half of the movie; GREAT! Man did they nail it
with great characters and an interesting build-up.
Second half of the movie; ATROCIOUS! They completely
ruined the movie experience. They had such a great
build-up and they could so easily have turned this
into a great horror flick. Too bad this didn't
happen. I see no reason why you should rent this.
