A virus is
spreading in a small town turning the locals
into flesh-eating zombies. A group of survivors have
to seek shelter in order to stay alive but it's not
that easy when it seems as if they're the only ones
left. What caused this viral outbreak and will they
be able to stop it before it's too late?

Okay so it's called Day Of The Dead... right... why
again? 90% of this movie takes place in night time.
It just doesn't make sense. Ooooh I get it, this is
supposed to be a remake of the Romero classic from
the 80s even though the two movies have very little
in common. If you ask me, this is more like a low
budget DTV version of the Dawn Of The Dead remake.
Taurus Entertainment (who released Day Of The Dead 2
last year... hmmm...) is responsible for this generic
zombie flick which feels like any other zombie movie.
This has very little to do with the movie that it's
allegedly remaking. While most of the original was
set in an underground bunker, only the final 15 minutes
or so of this movie are inside a bunker and the team
of survivors doesn't consist of military guys and
scientists, it consists of teens. Annoying spoiled teens.
Okay okay, now let's not look at Day Of The Dead as a
remake, let's look at it objectively and we find that
it has many good qualities. It's got moments of pure
genius and it's severely better than anything Taurus
Entertainment has ever produced before. Obviously this
cost a decent amount of money to make and I'm sure that
they were originally planning on releasing this in
cinemas. Well, Day Of The Dead is not a theatrical flick
in any way. Perhaps it would have been suited for the
After Dark Horror Fest but as a standalone movie this
would have never worked at the box-office. The actors
are pretty bad, the camerawork is questionable and the
movie is rather repetitive and gets a bit tedious every
now and then. However, as a DTV zombie flick, this is
pretty good. It's got lots of action, lots of gore and
lots of zombies. It's basically got all the right
ingredients, it's just not made by the best bakery
in town - if you get what I mean.
I'm sure many of you are sceptical towards this movie
and you should be. It's not comparable to the original
at all but I don't think that it should be compared
to the original. As a zombie flick it's pretty good
and it kept me fairly entertained through and through.
Mediocre? Yes. Worth checking out? Eh, if you have
nothing else to do. Oh one thing that annoyed me was
the fact that these zombies were way too acrobatic.
As if it wasn't enough that they could jump from three
stories up and land on their feet, they could also
climb on ceilings. What? Have they got suction feet
that we never get to see? Anyways, decent zombie movie,
nothing special but better than most of the DTV zombie
crap these days.

Lots of blood splatter and decapitations.

It's okay.

Like I just said, it's okay. It's better than most
DTV zombie flicks but it doesn't measure up to the
original at all. Don't think of it as a remake, think
of it as a stand alone zombie flick and you may enjoy
it as much as I did. Fairly entertaining but nothing
we haven't seen before.
