A crazed killer in a white mask is terrorizing a small
village with an axe. A young couple get dragged into
the mystery, unwillingly. Soon they find themselves
running for their lives, will they be able to find
out who the killer is or will this towns population
decrease to zero?

Since I just finished watching The Mutilator, I decided
to have a go at another cult favourite of mine. Edge
Of The Axe isn't really your average slasher flick.
There are no stereotypes in the movie and the story
isn't all that unoriginal. I know what you're thinking,
"how can he call a slasher about a masked killer
original?", well, it's not an original movie, I didn't
say that, but the subplot of the movie feels pretty
fresh for the time being.
The best thing about this movie, and I think that
everyone will agree with me on this one, is the
opening scene where a woman gets killed at a carwash.
That scene has quickly gone to my favourite slashings
hall-of-fame list. Unfortunately, the rest of the
movie fails to live up entirely to the opening scene.
The highlights in the movie are definitely the
death scenes, even if they might not be overwhelmingly
gory but the story is definitely good enough to
keep you interested in the movie as well.
This is one of those movies that should not have been
forgotten. This Spanish slasher flick definitely
deserves a good DVD release and I'm still waiting
desperately for one. Edge Of The Axe might feel
cheesy for some, and for some this even might feel
a bit dull at occasions but overall I think that
this movie deserves more credit than slasher fans
have given it. Edge Of The Axe has always, and will
always be a cult classic in my eyes. Do not miss
this odd and forgotten slasher flick.

We get a severed pigs head, a rotten corpse, some
axe stabbings, a decapitated head and an axe in back.
Nothing to get worked up about but the death scenes
are still very well made.

Very cheesy 80s music and some even worse church
music. This movie wins no awards in the soundtrack
department. Ugh!

How slasher fans can dislike this movie is just
beyond me. This is a odd but still very entertaining
slasher flick and will always be a cult favourite
of mine. It does have it's bad parts but overall,
this is definitely worth the while.
