A gay guy and his straight male friend decide to
buy a house together since neither of them can
seem to find that special someone anyway. What
they don't know is that the small town that they
just moved into is terrorized by a masked serial
killer. Will they survive or will they also be
victims of this horrible killer?
Every time that you buy an independently made horror
flick on eBay you take a big chance since most of
them are usually really bad and very homemade. Well,
Evil was definitely not one of the good ones and
you can tell that it's shot with a camcorder but
it's actually pretty well shot. The movie is presented
in widescreen (which always helps) and the camera
never shakes or anything so it really doesn't bother
you that it's shot with a camcorder. What does bother
you however is the fact that they have put a bad
layer of fog in way too many outdoors scenes, you
can really see it floating on the screen.
The acting is absolutely abysmal. The straight guy
can hardly speak English so it doesn't feel as if
he's American, either that or he was struggling
badly to deliver his dialogues. The gay guy feels
very straight as he acts like a macho man in some
scenes and then all of a sudden he acts like a
super feminine gay guy. However, acting aside, the
most pathetic thing about this movie has got to
be the murders. For example, a woman is stabbed
repeatedly in the stomach but when she falls dead
to the ground there are no sign of stab wounds at all.
I have no idea why they decided to market this as
a gay slasher flick actually. Sure, there is one guy
who is supposedly gay but there is nothing homo-
erotic about this flick at all. You would think that
you would at least get a male to male kiss but not
even that so in my opinion this was very falsely
marketed. Overall, Evil is a watchable but very bad
homemade slasher flick. I've seen tons of worse
amateur slasher flicks so I'm guessing that these
guys future movies will turn out better.
Nothing worth mentioning, only some blood splatter.
I hated the excessive use of death metal music and
the piano music was terrible as well.
Dull and stupid homemade slasher flick which is
barely watchable. If you like amateur horror flicks
however, this is one of the better ones I've ordered
off of eBay. It's shot nicely and it is in widescreen
but story wise and acting wise this really fails terribly.
